Aroma Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Ottawa

A friend and I were looking for a new place to try out and decided on Aroma. It was easy to find, across from the McDonald's in the Findlay Creek area. There is an area inside for dining in, but also takeout and delivery options as well.

We chose to dine in and I ordered fish pakora, dahl makhni, and then rasmalai. Every dish was perfectly made and delicious. The fish pakora was juicy and tender inside, with a crispy outside. The dahl makhni was creamy and perfectly flavoured. Portion sizes were very fair for the price as well. The rasmalai had a nice texture and sweet taste and was a lovely way to finish off the meal.

The couple who owns the place greeted me warmly as soon as I walked in and they were very helpful when my friend and I asked for any suggestions or information about items on the menu.

I wanted chicken korma, for some reason she kept mentioning lamb korma and other dishes. I think because korma is not apart of the lunch combo special they have? I asked if they had veg korma. She said no I can’t make the chicken korma for you no problem but it will be full price and not lunch special. Perfect! No problem. But this was definitely not chicken korma. I’ve been to many many Indian restaurants and I’m not sure what this was but it was no where near korma and chicken really grossed me out (probably cause I’m pregnant) it was very fatty and rubbery. Anyways she was nice but should have just told me they didn’t have it instead of giving me something completely different and having me pay for a full dish. It tasted like tomato sauce with curry and a heavy heavy cilantro.

07/07/24 Sorry for the late review! We were a large group of 8 ranging from the ages of 8-80 years old. The server was attentive, the service was impeccable, and so on.

As someone who doesn’t like spicey food, the cooks were able to whip up non-spicy noodles and butter chicken. We were able to get our custom spice levels, which was nice. In terms of presentation, it was well displayed. The portions were good, as we had a lot of leftovers to take home. Everyone enjoyed the meal!

We also heard that they would be renovating the dining room soon, so we can’t wait to go back!

The only thing was that this restaurant does not have a kids menu, so if you go to this restaurant with children, you might either want to share orders amount yourself or you could try asking them to whip up...
