If you're searching for authentic Colombian coffee and a café experience that truly warms your heart, look no further than Bacata Café in Ottawa. This place is more than just a coffee shop – it’s a cozy, Caribbean-inspired corner that feels like home the moment you walk in. Diego and Aleja offer more than just excellent service – they welcome you like family. Their passion shows in every cup, and they even prepare your coffee right at your table, sharing the story behind every bean. They also take part in local university markets, always spreading the love for real Colombian coffee. I had the Colombian hot chocolate with cheese – an incredible and comforting experience. The cappuccino was the best of my life, and the chocolate cake? Absolutely out of this world. They offer a wide variety of coffee beans, from bold and fruity to smooth and mellow. I even brought home a soft roast that now makes my mornings feel like magic. With murals of the Colombian Andes, birdsong in the background, and that warm, welcoming vibe, this café is truly special. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore real flavor, deep culture, and unforgettable hospitality.

From the moment I stepped into this café, I was completely blown away. I had the privilege of seeing this space before it even opened—back when it was just an idea under construction—and to now see it so beautifully realized is nothing short of inspiring. Every single detail, from the art on the walls to the carefully chosen quotes, has been thoughtfully curated to create an atmosphere that feels warm, peaceful, and deeply authentic. Diego and Aleja have poured their hearts into this place, and it shows in everything they do. The little touches—like the sounds of birds playing at random intervals—make it feel like you’re stepping into a hidden oasis. And, of course, the coffee is exceptional. The passion and knowledge they bring to their craft are unmatched. They take the time to explain the origins of their beans, their brewing techniques, and how to truly appreciate each cup. It’s not just coffee—it’s an experience. I couldn’t be happier for Diego and Aleja and what they’ve built. This isn’t just a café; it’s a labor of love, a space where community, culture, and craftsmanship come together. If you haven’t been yet, you absolutely need to go.

I had the pleasure of visiting this coffee shop yesterday, and it completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warm and inviting atmosphere. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the beautifully displayed products—everything is thoughtfully curated and meticulously planned. But the real highlight? The customer service and, of course, the coffee. Diego and Aleja are true professionals, passionate about what they do. They took the time to explain everything about their products with such enthusiasm and knowledge. I ordered a coffee, and Diego personally brought it to my table, preparing it right in front of me. He shared the origin of the beans, his brewing technique, and even the best way to enjoy it. It wasn’t just a cup of coffee—it was an experience. Without a doubt, this is the best coffee shop in Canada. If you haven’t been yet, you need to go!

I came here on a gloomy Sunday morning with one of my best friends and their lovely family. And let me just say after eating at this cafe, even though the weather didn’t light up right away, the food sure made it feel like it did. I was blown away by the amazing quality of the decaf coffee; it was light in colour and perfectly bitter with some acidity and no chemical flavours, which I was overjoyed about because a lot of coffee shops will use decaf coffee that oftentimes has chemical flavours. The farmer's coffee was delicious; one of the workers made it right at our table to give us the full experience of this drink. The worker explained how they assemble the coffee and the reason why they use traditional coffee cloths and Colombian cups. The farmer's coffee had the perfect amount of sweetness and an amazing autumnal flavour. The food was so yummy; every bite had me wanting even more. They have gluten-friendly options, which I greatly appreciated because I am gluten-free, they also offer vegan and halal options. The empanadas were delicious paired with the aji, so good I am still thinking about it. The customer service was amazing; all the workers were extremely friendly, and a clear labour of love was conducted at this cafe. The atmosphere at the cafe was so fresh and vibrant it woke me right up and was a perfect way to brighten up the gloomy morning. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who enjoys cafes and Colombian food. I will be coming back for more yummy delicious...
