barBURRITO — Restaurant in Ottawa

Just found out that the owner does not pass on any tips other than cash tips to their staff and employees!!!!!!!!!!! What the ???? (I trust the person that shared this information, but should also admit, I have not spoken directly to the owner at this location).

If it is true, then it is seriously a travesty as I often order through the app on my phone and always add a percentage for the tip, which I expect goes to the people preparing my food and not to the owner!!!

The food and the staff are top notch, and I trust this situation, if indeed accurate, will be immediately rectified, and all tips received going forward… electronic, or other will be directly divided and provided to the staff!!

July 13- just met with the owners as I was picking up an order from that location. They both thanked me for my concerns, but also confirmed that any tips whether through the app or cash debit on site is always distributed amongst the employees and added to their checks. I have no reason to doubt them or their sincerity in chatting with me so I have updated this review...

This is the first time I've been to a bar burrito due to a promotion that had for Cinco de Mayo. When I first place the order online, I gave it about 20 minutes before I left to the location, When I arrive, they told me to wait a little more because they was swamped with customers. I came back about 10 minutes later and all the customers had left, And they started working on my burrito, first off, for the size of the burrito, they made the contents absolutely tiny, as seen in the picture it's only fairly bigger than my mouse. The biggest gripe I have with this place It's how they placed the ingredients on the burrito, all they do is grab a handful of ingredients and toss it on top of each other, no distribution is done throughout the burrito so when you eat it, one side tastes different than the other. The only forgiving part about this is that the ingredients are fairly decent, but if you can't even assemble a burrito properly, then why bother? Their extreme fries however were...

I have never written a review before, but I feel compelled to warn others about this place. Not only is the food mediocre at best, but the way the owner treats the staff is absolutely appalling.

From the moment I walked in, I noticed the employees seemed stressed, alone and scared. I learned why: the owner is a tyrant who constantly yells at the staff, forces them to complete there work within the given time any how without proper breaks, and frequently cuts their pay for the smallest mistakes and even they are not given tips. It's disgraceful that in this day and age, such exploitation is still happening. I urge everyone to stay away from this place. By dining here, you're supporting an establishment that mistreats its workers. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area where the staff are treated with respect and paid fairly. Do yourself and the community a favor and avoid this...
