Big Rig Brewery — Restaurant in Ottawa

An unexpectedly fun little tap room hidden inside a small industrial park in rural Kanata.

Beware that they keep odd hours (open till 4pm Sat, closed Sun and open weekdays till 8pm). Otherwise I have visited the brewery on several Saturdays and had the entire place to myself sans barkeeper. Most of the bartenders are chatty and friendly. The brewery does have limited food options during weekdays which is popular with the local IT crowd.

There are no food options on Saturday ... but dont be afraid to pick up a pizza and take it inside with you and enjoy a few beers with friends. The barkeepers wont mind. Big Rig has a good selection of craft beer options that range from fantastic to mediorcre. AMAZING service! I’ve been going to their restaurant in Gloucester for a while and enjoy their Bongo radler, but I have family members from out of town that LOVE the Gold lagered ale. It was out of stock online when I looked last week so I emailed them and a rep responded very quickly to let me know when it would be back in stock. I made an order for local delivery and it was delivered the same day and the driver brought it up to my unit for me in a dolly since it would be too heavy for me. This place is top notch from beginning to end! Firstly, the staff are friendly, courteous, and attentive. The staff know their menu, they know what’s really good, so ask!! The menu isn’t big, and this is ALWAYS a good sign it’s good eats. A great menu doesn’t need to be jam packed. The best thing on the menu? Soup, and salad.....so freaking good!! The chili is a curry chili, and I was sceptical, but best friggin chili I’ve ever tasted (besides the Bison chili at the Redneck Bistro...
