I love Thai food and have it frequently. I have been to this restaurant multiple times, but unfortunately, the quality and service seem to keep getting worse over time. Today was October 10 (this date matters later). We went for lunch as a family. My wife ordered Thai tea, and my daughter ordered a mango juice for $3.50. When the drinks arrived, my daughter started drinking hers. My wife tried the juice and said it tasted awful. I tasted it too. It was terrible and moldy. We checked the can, and the expiry date was May 4. We told the waitress, “Sorry, this juice is really off. It’s expired.” She took it without surprise. We then heard someone in the back say, “Just give them another one. Give them the lychee one.” We politely said, “Thank you, but please cancel the juice.” Our food arrived. My dish was fine, not as good as it used to be, but acceptable. My wife’s yellow curry was decent. Then came our daughter’s pad Thai. Being cautious after the juice incident, we tasted it first. It also tasted off. My wife and I love pad Thai and have tried it at most places in Ottawa. This one tasted strange, as if the chicken was undercooked or had gone bad. We hesitantly told the waitress that the pad Thai didn’t taste right. We never send food back, so this felt awkward. She didn’t seem thrilled but took it back and said they would make it again. Two minutes later, the same plate came back warmer and drenched in extra sauce. We tried it again, but it was still off. We told our daughter not to eat it. The full plate sat on the table. The waitress never checked if it was any better. When we got the bill, they charged us fully for the pad Thai. We were too shy to argue, so we paid for a dish that wasn’t edible. This was our last time here. If you care about your health and love Thai food, try somewhere else. We certainly will. P.S. We paid $5.50 for the shrimp rolls (you get two rolls). As you can see in the pictures, it wasn’t even de-veined! It is really gross. We didn’t eat that either.

I had a nice supper date with mom and sister on Monday. We decided to bring mom for a thai cuisine experience in kanata. Open for almost a decade, Sabai Thai is a cute little family owned restaurant. I learnt about this restaurant from following another Ottawa Food blogger, Mel's Hangry Table. We had an amazing experience, the calm ambiance, great staff and delicious food. Since we wanted to spoil mom, we got 3 appetizers and 3 main dishes. To start, we got their crispy vegetable spring rolls, they were flakey and crunchy with lots of filling, we also got the fresh wraps, a jam packed rice paper roll served with a savoury peanut sauce, and the last app was the chicken satay skewers and they were also a hit with everyone! Next up were the main courses, my sister got Gaeng Dang - chicken, bamboo, vegetables tossed in a red curry, mom got Pad Prew Warn - a chicken stir-fry with Thai sweet and sour sauce and last mine was the Pad Siew - a noodle stir-fry with chicken tossed with vegetables and a sweet soy sauce. All the dishes were great, we tried a little from eachothers dish but we all agreed that ours was the best meal lol. This s great little gem to try if you are out in the kanata area on Carling Ave and March rd. #supportlocal #ottawafoodiestalker

We came here on a Saturday night right when they opened at 5 pm. We were happy we got there early because while we were waiting for our meals the restaurant was almost full house. We noticed that there was only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant which made it abitt difficult to have the best service. It felt like she was running around back and forth taking orders and all. We wanted more water and hot sauce and it took us over 20 minutes to grab her attention. Food wise it was good but not the best. We got the chicken sticks, the mango salad and the chicken pad Thai. The chicken sticks were way to spicy because of the curry, the sauce that came with it was not enough. I loved the mango salad, it was very fresh, I would definitely order this to myself when I come back. The pad Thai was to my liking aswell but if you don't like sweet I don't recommend getting this because this dish is pretty sweet. The portion are very big for the price you are paying. We shared the 3 plates and we were full at the end, we each paid 25$. This place is good for groups and to share food. They don't seem to have an online reservation option but for big groups it's preferable to call before.

I'm always waring of trying new restaurants as I hate being disappointed eating out. This place was great! With 3 of us eating, we ordered 3 mains and a side of sticky rice ( SOO good!... went perfectly with all the dishes, I would recommend this over the steamed jasmine rice)

First up: Gaeng Keaw Wan Curry - Spicy Green Curry- served with Bamboo shoots, baby corn, bell peppers, green beans, eggplant, and sweet basil. - we got chicken. This was great! I dont like eggplant but I was gobbling it up, nice curry sauce, slightly sweet, very satisfying. I would say the spice didn't even register with us for this one though.

Second : Pad Thai with Shrimp Perfectly cooked noodles, juicy shrimp, Saucy but not too saucy! I would say that the flavour in this sauce does not beat my other favourite place to make pad thai, but it was still a great dish.

Lastly: Pa Graw Praw Pork ( we chose) sauteed with onions, bell peppers, baby corn, and sweet basil in a spicy garlic sauce. Spicy ( listed as but we didnt register any spiciness). We had accidentally ordered this dish, I had wanted the Panang curry and wasnt paying attention and accidentally ordered this one. Boy were we not disappinted!! This ended up being the favourite dish for 2 of us ( third person like the Spicy green curry the most) The dish had a savoury garlic sauce of a perfect consistency, the sweet basil finished the flavours all off, very satisfying, the dish did not make it to the leftovers stage. I was really hoping the pork would not be fatty or chewy and it was not! It was tender and flavourful.

Also keep in mid that during Covid, restaurants are not making their usual sales! Their kitchens are running on minimal staff to keep afloat. As per other reviews mentioned ( about long wait times), we ordered at 5:20 and got our food around 6:40 ordering through Uber eats. Yes it took a while, but this was also ordering during dinner rush AND rush hour for the Uber eats driver! We did not mind. Order ahead and be prepared to wait for the...

Ordered takeout online, confirmation said it would be ready at 7. Go to pick up at 7 and they said it would be ready at 7:15. Go back at 7:15 and was basically ignored by the waitstaff. Refused to acknowledge me and avoided eye contact everytime she would walk by with food. Eventually I tried to get her attention on her way back to the counter and she dismissed me by saying something along the lines of “ill call your name when it’s ready” over her shoulder as she passed by. Extremely rude way to interact with someone. I tried to get her attention yet again and asked her to repeat what she said and she made some random excuse saying her manager(?) will call my name when the food is ready and so I asked her if I could just speak to her and she said “sure when she comes out from the back, she’s really busy” again in a very dismissive tone. At this point it’s 7:30 so I’ve been waiting a while with no acknowledgement of where my order is at. There are 3 other people waiting as well who she’s also not acknowledging. Finally she comes out with my order and goes “we threw in rice for you” ok? I get that establishments get swamped during busy dinner hour but the way the staff handled the situation could have been way better. An acknowledgement would have been helpful, and the attitude was very dismissive and rude. This place came highly recommended by friends but I’m not sure if I would order from this establishment again after...
