Really disappointing experience. Our family was celebrating our oldest son's 7th birthday with a trip to Boston pizza. We go specifically to Boston pizza because my wife and two boys have celiac disease and Boston pizza has a pretty sizable gluten free menu. Our son specifically asked for a trip to Boston pizza in lieu of a birthday party because he loves hearing the staff sing on people's birthday and was really looking forward to it as this was one of the first family outing in nearly a year since his younger brothers cancer diagnosis.
The food was fine and as you'd expect but when the singing time came our waitress (who was great for the record) told us it was a slow night and not very many people were on staff, so there probably wouldn't be the boisterous experience we may have expected. No worries, he just wanted some of that experience. We'll, 10 minutes later our waitress comes back and let's us know that non of the other staff are interested in singing to our kid. Not a single one. She offered to sing, but felt the Boston pizza song wasn't the best choice as it uses words like "we, from all of us, etc", so we sang the regular happy birthday instead.
That whole interaction really left a sour taste in my mouth. There were several other servers there and the place was pretty dead, so to be told that the staff couldn't be bothered to come and sing really made us feel like our celebration didn't matter, and that's kind of the whole image Boston pizza strives for. Whether the staff care about us or not is irrelevant. People go out to places like Boston pizza to celebrate events with friends and family and there is an expectation that Boston pizza is interested in making that event an experience.
We reached out to Boston pizza about the experience and after 4 days the response received was, in my opinion, insulting. They offered us a 20$ coupon off our next meal, not even enough to cover our sons meal. It honestly felt like the bare minimum someone could offer that still met the company's complaint policy. I wasn't really expecting the whole meal to be comped, but I was certainly expecting the offer to be more that 15% of our meal cost.
I spoke to the manager Scott and he was pretty dismissive. He said "as far as I'm concerned, the offer was more than generous" considering the service was great and the food was fine. He exclaimed that he certainly wasn't going to comp the entire meal (I never asked him to, he just jumped right to it) and as far as he was concerned, the evening was great and singing wasn't guaranteed.
I really felt like our business wasn't worth anything to them and the response from Scott really drove that point home. He treated me like I was just looking for a free meal, and was using my son to get it and seemed unable to grasp the frustration I...
Read moreWas there last night for some drinks and the bartender on named Chris was good at the start. Towards the end he said something very inappropriate to myself and my brother and fiance. Then he discovered that I had just gotten married the day before. So he brought over some shots. Then he insisted to have a shot himself and celebrate the event with us. I work in this industry and I know Boston pizza has a zero tolerance for drinking on the job and a zero tolerance for stealing. Because I can guarantee that he didn't pay for any of that alcohol and how would I know that.....well it's because it was 11 pm and there's no manager working. Ok wait no manager at 11pm on a Friday??? Ya that's right I did say that. That bartender should be fired for drinking on the job and his language and stealing. And that manager needs to re take all her testing or be let go herself. Regardless IF there was some kind of emergency there should be a manager in...
Read moreThe food was good, and our waitress was so nice so I wont give the experience a 1 star. HOWEVER the man who seated me (I assume the owner or general manager) seemed to ignore the fact I had a walker and lead me to a booth with a raised step. I'm lucky that today I was able to do the step but sometimes I can't. The other accessibility issue is that the wheel chair bathroom is missing a button to open it and I had to struggle with the door.
To top it off a cockroach crawled right over to me on the bench and the only staff member to help/ talk to us about it was our wonderful server who even tried to kill it though she was as scared as us.
Overall I'm disappointed towards the way this particular location operates. Ownership seems to lack interest in customer service, customer experience, general basic necessities for those who are disabled, or building hygeine.
My partner and I love boston pizza so this is a huge...
