Boston Pizza — Restaurant in Ottawa

Me and my friend came in and there was no one at the front for a few minutes and a waitress facing against us on her phone . Finally a nice lady came to sit us but a random man took over and we were a bit confused on who to follow for a second but we saw it was not busy at all so we asked if we could sit in a booth and he put us on the bar side in a half booth which we both couldn’t sit comfortably in. We waited a very long time before being given waters and our drink orders taken and waiters were nowhere to be found on the bar side. The food did come quick but not from our waiter from the nice lady. The food was good but we had to ask for napkins and ketchup because there was none given. We didn’t have someone check up on us until I finished my food and me and my friend were fully out of water. We asked for more water and some napkins which the waiter did bring which we appreciated but we had to wait sooo long before seeing the waiter again. If it was busy i would understand but it was almost dead barely any customers and many waiters just in the back or other side. When me and my friend were ready to pay and leave we waited more than 30min and when we finally saw him talk to other customers I had to make eye contact with him to show that we were done our food and ready for the bill. He said okay sounds good and proceeded to take ANOTHER 30min before bringing our reicepts and cardboard box for my friends leftover fries. There was a lot of servers but they were all in the back or on the other side of the restaurant mostly talking to each other or on their phones from what we saw before getting seated. Got home not long ago from the St. Laurent Bv restaurant after dinner with friends. We hadn't been to this restaurant in about 18 months. Our experience tonight, my wife and myself, was mediocre at best. Food was alright but nothing earth shattering.

I ordered the Hungry Carnivore as it resembled my favourite dish, Mama Meata Penne until it was removed from the menu. Too much green pepper and celery in my meal so much so that it overpowered the dish. I didn't overly enjoy it. My wife had a dish she usually orders when we go to BP. She said it was alright. Portions were generous. They were somewhere between lukewarm and hot. We weren't offered any parmesan cheese for our meals.

Our server was nice young lady but not overly attentive. The place was busy but it didn't appear that she was being run off her feet. There were times where it was difficult to get her attention. The soft drinks we ordered were flat. We didn't order any dessert. The kicker was the karaoke that started shortly after 7:30 pm. Had we known there was going to be karaoke, we'd have asked to be seated elsewhere. When the music started it was too loud and having a conversation became difficult. That was the reason we left.

We were somewhat disappointed with our dining and socializing experience this evening. As I said, we've eaten at this location before and the quality of food and service has slipped since our last visit. The Innes Rd location for BP has proven a better dining and social experience.

Will we return? Yes we probably will but I would hope that standards will improve for that visit over this visit. If not, it'll be hard to patronize this...

Hello and I just dined at this location earlier today with fellow staff and it was terrible service and quality. I arrived by 4:30 pm and finally left at 6:45 pm... One drink and two appetizers later... A slow and unreliable server. To start, I asked several times for water and if I could order a drink. I finally ordered a lime margarita and there was hardly any alcohol and it was all watered down. I sent it back and settled for a beer. That took another ten minutes to arrive. We ordered guac and chips which was mediocre... then we ordered the Thai shrimp bits. They arrived 45 minutes later cold. The server took them and reheated them in the microwave so the shrimp was rubbery and tough. I received no offers for drink refills and had to ask two or three times for water. Finally, I asked for the bills between my colleague and I since we shared appetizers. We were told we would get 15% off food for our staff celebration... That had not been applied to the bill so I had to go inside and get it changed. The server did not seem to know what he was doing and did not offer to take cold Thai bites off the bills. I did speak to the female server bartender working at the bar and I explained all of this to her... She did apologize and said she was working extra late and doing her best to make things better... I assured her I knew it was not her fault but management needs to be aware. Sadly I have no intention of returning to Boston Pizza... And my friends and family word of mouth will know about this experience. A disappointing experience....
