John Juan Burrito Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Ottawa

When I first arrived I was excited that I'd be able to satisfy everyones craving. When I entered a staff member greeted me with a friendly smile. It was my first time there and I was a little slow with the menu. I placed my order. While the staffer was beginning to make it a delivery driver came in and the employee stopped making my food and immediately began the delivery order. I was confused because there was another employee just standing around not doing anything. There was no explanation or apology, my order was simply put on hold. I'm when the employee came back to my order she was suddenly rushed, pushy, and unpleasant.When paying for my order the cashier was also unpleasant. She had no idea what she was charging me for and asked me for my order. I think better communication is required. Only part of my order was ready after I paid. The cashier gave it to me in a plastic bag and said that she'd give the rest when ready. She moved on to help another customer. Food was ready and the manager or owner handed me the rest of the food.

The food tasted great, our burrito was delicious and the hamburger was extremely juicy. The presentation of the burrito was terrible, it was falling apart and made a huge mess.

All in all this place has so much potential, my experience was stressful which would make me hesitant to come. This is disappointing because the food is very good.

First of all. They make the best burgers and fries and I have gone there for that a dozen times now. Worth every penny! 5 STARS FOR JOHN JUAN BURGERS.

However... The burrito side is a major disappointment in comparison. Small portions and VERY limited toppings for almost $20 for a burrito bowl, whereas you get MUCH better at every other Burrito place in Ottawa at much bigger portions for $7 less. I also DESPISE Cilantro and didn't ask for any, but many cilantro leaves were mixed in with all the other ingredients, due to poor handling. Also... The guy made my bowl, left it there and made me wait a while at the cash while he prepared an online order. LOL!! They lost me as a customer from that one experience. This was on Sunday, May 25th at around 3pm.

And to add, They keep the door wide open while a bunch of kids are standing outside smoking weed while we all have to sit there and smell it while I was eating with my daughter. "What's that smell, dad?" Not burritos, my love. Very bad experience and I DO NOT encourage you to go to this NOT AT ALL family environment.

Verdit: Tossed out my burrito bowl due to the odd cilantro leaves from poor handling and never going back

Also... GRUMPIEST most unprofessional worker I have ever had... Same curly haired dude from below. Instead of sitting in back making us wait a couple of minutes before coming to serve us... CLEAN THE DISGUSTING, GRIMY and GREASY place up. the place is absolutely unsanitary....

"Awesome Burgers, Same great burritos"

Myself, my family and friends have been eating here for a while now. Originally we were drawn to their mouth watering fresh made burritos. The concept of never pre- prepared ingredients, warmed tortillas, choice of succulent meat and a plethora of fine salsas and condiments ensure that the monster burrito you build will satisfy even the most demanding gringo, even John Juan himself. Recently I decided to try one of their scratch made in house ground beef hamburgers. Thruthfully, my family makes some mean bbq burgers at home, so it takes a quality burger to impress me at a restaurant. Let me tell you, the fresh ground flavor comes through and gives these babies an edge right from the start. Then the house chipotle mayo gives a little spice and boatloads of flavor. It doesn't stop there. The burger is fully customizable but I was very impressed with the all dressed as it was. The price for such a quality burger is reasonable and their fries are similar to a chip truck. I find that many restaurants drop the ball on their fries but not this place. They won't disappoint. The staff is friendly and eager to please and it's obvious that they value your business.
