Silk Road Restaurant — Restaurant in Ottawa

If i were just rating the food they would receive a 5/5 hands down. That being said, this type of establishment requires good customer service which this restaurant is lacking in. There have been a few incidents here at silk road kabob which is unfortunate as my family and I have not only spent so much here in the past but we have also recommended this restaurant to many family and friends. Once, we made an order with potato wedges and when we came to pick the order up, we handed the woman our credit card to pay and she said: "oh, we didnt have wedges so i substituted it for fries which are good, okay?" Right as she was about to insert our card. We had no clue that the order was modified. we told her no, that is not okay (my little brother is a picky eater) and informed her to remove that from our order and that in the future to please inform us if something is missing and to not just add it to our order. Another time i went with my family for the buffet and they didnt pour water until we asked them to (the waitress didnt seem happy that we asked either) also, bread (their bread is amazing) is supposed to be part of their buffet and when we asked where the bread was we were told "its done." as the waitress walked away. She didnt even glance our way. More recently? I walked into the restaurant to place an order to-go, the sign said "open" and the times were until 10pm. It was only 7pm and when i entered i was on the phone with my mom trying to figure out what exactly to order (no, i wasnt loud) when the woman working there (her name is ruby) SHOOED ME like i was a fly or something. I asked "are you closed?" And she didnt even have the decency to say yes she just shook her head and continued to shoo me away. I have NEVER encountered such disrespect at a restaurant smh. Needless to say, i dont see myself going back...

We had a visit from Toronto and we stopped at this place. OMG. Such a wonderful experience with Silk Road restaurant. The staff are amazing and the food is awesome. Very caring environment. There are vegetarian choices on the menu and meat is totally halal. The bread, drinks and desserts are 100% homemade. We started with homemade marinated olives (Zeytoon Parvardeh). The best I d ever had in my life -no exaggeration. try it for sure. Portion is good for 2. The Kabob dishes are fresh meats, extremely juicy and tasty. Koobideh is one of the bests. Fresh- fresh- fresh. Basmati rice with saffron is so well made. Appetizers specially Mantu was so good we ordered again. Stews come also in vegetarian and they are very very very tasty. We were 6 people and we ordered one from each. Grilled salmon fish was so crisp out and soft and juicy inside. The chef/owner takes time going around asking customers for feedback. leyla the waitress is super on customer service and menu knowledge. We als had some take out for one of our friends and after one hour and. Half the meat was still juicy and tasty. I recommend this place and will go back there anytime I ll visit Ottawa again. I will also recommend this place to my friends in Toronto. Thank you so much Silk Road and Khasteh...

Worst staff during the evening November 15,2019. We came to the restaurant at 9:20 plenty of time left. As soon we arrived they said we don't usually take orders now but I can still get it for you. I told the waitress right away shami kabob and she said okay and then went to the back. Next thing I know 7 minutes later she comes back to say take the order of my friend who asked for sometime and she totally switched up her story and said we don't have anymore of the shami kabob but really they didn't want to serve us as she and other the other server were talking to each other in farsi. I told her I thought you already took my order to the back and the other server laughed in the back. Horrible customer service. They both made a choice to not serve us even though the restaurant doesn't close till 10 pm and at first accepted even said we can order and then later came back and switched everything on us. To the server that laughed in the background you don't deserve to work in a restaurant with that attitude. What a shameful experience. Garbage service. Now I have to find another Iranian Restaurant. Useless waste of my time. Thanks for lying and wasting our time server that said "We will make an exception...
