Came here MANY times when they first opened and had a great experience, decided to give it a try again after a couple of years and it was a horrible experience. Waited in line for nearly 50 minutes - 1 hour before being seated (which wasn’t the issue at first), but after being seated, the girl didn’t come to take our order for another 30 minutes until I called her to ask if someone will take our orders. She finally came around after the 2nd time I asked her to take our orders. Upon taking our orders, there were people who were seated after us and given their food already. Waited an additional 40 minutes for the lady to not acknowledge us again, I had to go up once again & remind her of our orders and ask how long it would be, she said she would make sure that they make our orders immediately and apologized for the wait. After an additional 25 minutes, I went directly to the kitchen staff and asked them how long our order would be, they asked our order, and said that they had no record of our order and we’re working on others. Absolutely frustrated, I asked the young lady what was going on, and expressed how frustrated we are that people who came after us were done eating at this point and the 2nd group of people after them were already eating their food and desserts. She apologized and said that she couldn’t remember what we ordered, and asked us for it again to write down and offered us 10% off after I expressed how frustrated and disheartened we were, but it was time for me to get back to put my little one to bed, so I told her there was no point because we have to leave now and all the time that was wasted can’t be compensated for. After a total of over 2.5 hours as the establishment just sitting and waiting, we decided to leave. The lady said she called her manager and offered each of us a free meal to compensate for our losses — I asked her how she would know who we are next time we come, so she only took down my name in her notebook. I offered to give my phone number and the other 2 people’s names, but she said she only needed mine (which obviously made it feel like they were going to cause trouble again the next time we would have to come in, so none of us really bothered to again seeing how she didn’t want to take down our full information). Honestly haven’t been back to claim that as I don’t want to have to go through the trouble of wasting my time again, just to be back to square one again. To the manager: please hire more staff! It might be expensive right now to do that, but I’m sure it will help improve the total time it takes for the one person to take orders and the 2 in the back to cook/prepare them. You’ll start to see higher reviews and more people will be able to visit your establishment due to smaller wait times. I would love to see the Cacao70 Landsdowne that I used to always love improve and hopefully one day retain its customers that it has lost due to this. Best wishes...
Read moreIt was too noise. The music was to load. Food should come fast. My meal took 1hour and 30min when the restaurant wasn’t full and it was just a milkshake. They should hire more attractive looking female waiters that would improve their presentation. They should make the food more tastier and newer options on the menu as the menu has been the same for the past 5 years. The waiters should know the menu and have knowledge about how and why dishes taste a certain way, look a certain way they should know why the chef presents the dish in a visual pleasing way so that the dish is designed to make the eater know what is the highlight of the dish this also makes the dish tastier if its presented a certain way. The waiters should know the history of t he restaurant and be able to tell customers interesting unique authentic stories about the restaurant and the experiences the waiters have had serving different customers and if any Red Blacks or 67s players or other celebrities have eaten in the restaurant, they should have pictures of famous people they have served on their walls, they should include more technology into the atmosphere like smell, taste, sight, hearing, touch engineering sensors that communicate by brain waves to people a personalized sensation. You can put smell sensors which are pieces of electronics into the walls of the restaurant and then when someone walks by the sensor the sensor reads the persons brain waves and sends a brain wave to the person which makes the person create a smell or the sensor emits by a physical odour instead of a brain wave a customized smell made in the sensor to be customized to the person walking by. Chairs should have cushions and arm rest cushions to be comfy, the restaurant could buy display walls which are glass walls that are one entire display with touch screen that works like an iPad on the wall with apps and can display customized scenes based on the IOs data of everyone personalized to each persons IOs algorithm. The waiters should each be different in their performance and presentation towards the customer showing unique behaviours that are different from the other waiters based on how the customer is presenting. The restaurant should have a air or persona of the Glebe Artisan shops vibe on bank where the idea is that shops in the Glebe are privately owned, colourful, unique in a way like artisan gypse like how the Glebe was before developers and Lansdowne was built. The Artisan shops in the Glebe were for the people in the Glebe and based on what the people in the Glebe wanted instead of people in the suburbs of Ottawa or billionaire developers that built things only for their own profit. Make Cocoa 70 for the people of the Glebe. They should make Cocoa 70 up to date with latest technology like Ai, virtual and augmented reality, internet of things. Have an option to have an online menu as well...
Read moreOk I hate lengthy reviews, but the experience here was the worst experience of my life. I am completely baffled and disgusted, so yes this will be the longest review. I would give this place 0 stars, but I'm not allowed. This is hands down the WORST restaurant I have ever been to.
My boyfriend and I worked in the restaurant business, so this review is coming from people who know what the job entails and to give a restaurant 1 star has never ever happened from us because we are so understanding. Yet, here we are. Cacao 70 MONTREAL is legendary and I thought i would have had the same experience... I was completely wrong. It was horrible from start to finish. Walking in, I noticed A LOT of empty tables. I was happy because this meant I'd be seated right away. WRONG. We were about 10 in line. We waited about 10 minutes. 4 people left during this time. My boyfriend and I remained hopeful that service and food would get better. As we waiting, NO ONE acknowledge us, no one greeted us, no one apologized for the wait and straight up no one cared. Finally we were seated. Again, the hostess/waitress did not apologize to us for waiting long. She took our order pretty quickly. However...... once our food was ready the plates were sitting by the counter for about 7 minutes. The cook rang the bell 3 times to let her know our food was ready. There were other plates waiting too. Maybe 6 others? The counter was full. She wasn't even busy, tables were empty and people were by the door (she didn't acknowledge them). When she brought the dessert, my pizza was cold and my boyfriend's ice cream was melted. I brought my pizza to the kitchen to ask for it to be reheated. It wasn't a busy night, so i don't understand why the waitress took so long to greet us, bring our food and finally clean our plates and give our bill. My boyfriend and I waited 15 minutes to have our dishes picked up and handed the bill. My boyfriend had to get up and ask for it!!!! To which she said, "oh sorry it's easy to forget this table it's in the back". Her name was Tuka, she was the absolute WORST waitress ever. I am completely disgusted by her service. I should've read the reviews before going because they are absolutely honest. If you want cacao 70 drive 2 hours to Montreal. SO MUCH BETTER FOOD AND...
