We wait not-so-patiently every winter for the warm spring air to come around so we can make the drive to now-open Crispy Chips to have a poutine after our winter hibernation. Pictures below are their medium poutine (there may be missing a few bites we just couldn’t resist before we drove off!) We love their dark & thick gravy. They certainly live up to their name with some of the Crispiest Chips I’ve ever had. Big, squeaky curds - just the way they should be. Pictures were taken after a 15 minute drive and they were still hot, crispy, and every bit delicious as it was fresh from the truck. They are only allowing one customer in to the ordering area at a time right now, for safe and proper distancing. They now are also offering debit - but obviously cash is king. They are also allowing call-ahead orders. Super friendly people always working the window - I’ve always left with a smile and they have yet to make a mistake in any order. They even always offer my little one a special treat (and they always ask the parent first - which is ALWAYS appreciated!) I recommend them to everyone because they truly do have THE BEST poutine this side of the River. If you haven’t had Crispy Chips you must go - they usually update on their Facebook page if they sell out early or need to be closed. Otherwise, get in your car and get over to that Canadian Tire parking lot, and enjoy a poutine that satisfies the craving, every time. 🤤

One of, if not the best poutine in Ottawa. The name suggests their poutine very well. Chips (fries) are very crispy, seasoned well, and taste great. They don’t cheap out on the cheese and it’s proper Quebec cheese you’d find in a poutine shop in QC, gravy is thick and tastes good and overall the dish has all 3 elements not overpowering over the other. In every bite you get equal tastes of delicious, oily, goodness. I ordered a medium size. Could easily feed 2 people however. Portions are huge and satiating. Prices are reasonable. Staff was friendly. Check them out!

Ok, I've conducted many researches trying to find a good poutine outside of the province of Quebec and this is it, I finally found one. The first poutine in the world out of Quebec that ticks off all the boxes in my book. Everything is there. Bouncy squeeky cheese, a thick sauce that is not trying to steal the show, hand cut fries (on the very crunchy side) and it helps that the staff is super friendly and funny. Prices are really good too! Until further research proves me wrong, world's best poutine outside of Quebec ✔️

I've been eating here since the old man JP still had his truck there while I worked at the old Marks location. Now my stars relate more to the hours... Now man are the hours ever not friendly for someone who works a nice to 5 and tried to speed to get there just to find out that even a few minutes before closing they are gone. Also on special days if you are closed ... At the very least update your voicemail for someone that's proactive enough to call ahead and check...

This happens to me more often than I actually get to eat the food.

The food itself if you can get there I time is good... Pricey but good and the quantities equally good.

If there would be a good chip truck in the West End other than this one... I sadly would have stopped coming a while ago because of the hours... 7pm everyday (or at the very least Saturday) would be better and 6...

Definitely a contender for Best in town.

Fries: Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Crispy is important in a poutine, otherwise the gravy makes the fries soggy. Not too big. Not too small. Some places have jumbo fries, which I don't think works.

Cheese: It's tough to get this part wrong. But, believe it or not some places don't use real curd. But, even the curd is a step up because they give you a lot, and the chunks are huge.

Gravy can make or break a poutine. Good gravy is a bit subjective. But I think the gravy is perfect. Not too salty. Nice a dark, and they don't drown the fries. I've had poutine where the fries are literally floating.

Is it the best in town? My...
