Wing Hing Chinese Food Take Out — Restaurant in Ottawa

I have been ordering from this place for years, tonight they were closed and so I tried a different place BIG MISTAKE! (The other place's food was barely edible) Wing Hing's service is good, the food is good and reasonably priced for the most part unless you want to make a change to one of the family dinners. Depending on who answers the phone you may or may not be charged for the substitution. If you are ordering something of lesser or equal value IMO there should not be an additional charge. The only food item I have tried and would not recommend is the lemon chicken as it is always dry and over cooked. Their rice is definitely fried rice and has that wok flavor that can only be achieved over a very hot stove. The egg rolls are especially tasty. Their ingredients are fresh, the food is flavorful, the pricing fair. Pick up is a much better value since they now charge for delivery. The overall experience is even better if you are lucky enough to be served by the owner as he is kind, helpful and friendly. He also has a green thumb, his jade plants are amazing. I do wish more of his staff spoke better English, perhaps there would be less inconsistency with pricing for substitutions. 8 year updaate still good but not a fan of this small new takeout container. Makes me go to other places that have bigger containers sometimes. But the quality diff here is better and the guys always hook it up.

4 year update: ive been up n down the menu. i usually get the Almond guy ding often for my dinner. It's absolutely perfect every time. I get the chicken balls from time to time and they are crispy and delicious. The cashew buddah delight is amazing. The ppl who work here are great

2 year update: I tried a bunch of spots near my house but none offer the portions, ingredients or rice portions that I like. Some other places add corn or mushroom to the dish, not a fan. I get the Almond Guy ding regularly, it's the best in Ottawa as far as I'm concerned. It comes with enough rice to enjoy the meal with (other places offer no rice or a tiny cup. What am I guna do with a cup?)

1 year update: Still delicious, no MSG, great portions, our go to Chinese spot.

Wing Hing is a true treasure. The owners are compassionate and always seem happy to cater to our vegetarian needs.

The Szechuan dish is delightful, with a generous portion of cashews and the ginger sauce dishes are a fav. We can't get enough of this combination. The tofu is cooked well - chewy, juicy, and never greasy or overcooked.

We keep returning to Wing Hing because they consistently meet our expectations. They have redefined what we thought was possible in this oversaturated and highly Americanized cuisine.

Don't let the poor reviews from college students deter you - Wing Hing has been in dedicated business for over 20 years and deserves all the credit.

The portion sizes are generous and the flavors are always on point. We highly recommend Wing Hing for a delicious and satisfying meal. Five stars!
