I may have thought by looking at the storefront of this happy little restaurant that I was probably safe getting an egg roll for sure, but these folks seem very serious about making everything super fresh, and really delicious judging by our first experience. There are so many classics on the menu, that I was a little skeptical that they could do everything well, but we absolutely loved the cross section of classic items we tried. My wife likes to get a combo with Chicken Fried Rice, and a rotating cast of entrees, but this time it was Chicken Balls and Sweet & Sour Pork (which she graciously let me sample). The Rice had a wonderful slightly smoky taste we both commented on, and both of the entrees portions were fresh, delicious and top-notch. We ordered two more dishes that we agreed on… Moo Goo Guy Pan (Chicken) & Vegetable Egg Foo Young, and were both impressed with everything. The vegetables were all very fresh and cooked to that perfectly still slightly crispy place. The Egg Rolls are the best we’ve both had, actually. Cooked to crispy perfection and served with a classic, but somehow “more-authentic-than-usual” plum sauce, for lack of the right word. In fact, we both noted that all the sauces and gravies seem to have an extra amount of care given to them, and it was a noticeable difference to the standard issue syrupy stuff we’ve been settling for. Special sauces mean everything was really great top to bottom, and we’re definitely looking forward to our next trip to their happy little big menu to try their take on more of our favorite dishes.
[ P.S. Compliments to the evening chef on Feb 7th, btw. Also, I gave 5 "Atmosphere" stars for the storefront, because we had the food...
Read moreIm about to pay Eggroll Factory the ultimate compliment... Not long ago my all time favourite Chinese food take out place closed down, Tai Ping on Carling Avenue. Randomly, I found Eggroll Factory online and decided to give their Eggrolls a shot, and if I'm being honest not expecting much. No joking around here, but their food is just as good if not better than Tai Ping. Enclosed in the photos, more importantly, the first photo was eggrolls I got somewhere else that wasn't Eggroll Factory. The second photo is an Eggroll factory eggroll, the difference is literally night and day. Eggroll factories eggrolls are filled and packed full, while competitors are empty. The pricing is amazing too, it costed me $24 bucks for a dozen eggrolls and that includes delivery. Also, their customer service is the best i seen in years, and did I mention they had my food delivered in under 30 minutes?! What an astounding restaurant.
They will be my new Chinese food place for take out for the long forseeable future.
P.S. Their plum sauce is amazing, and they give quite a bit of it too, good job...
Read moreI ordered a combo plate with general Tao's and sweet and sour pork. It was so terrible, slimey, cold, and flavorless that I wasn't able to eat more than a few bites. Even the egg roll was bland and disgusting. They gave me an extra egg roll and a free fortune cookie but the egg rolls were too gross to eat and even the fortune cookie was so stale that I was. Literally unable to chew it.
Fine, restaurants have bad days. Could be a fluke right? I call today to request a refund and the man refused to refund me, yelled at me, questioned whether I have ever had general Tao's chicken before and was generally extremely rude.
I have included a photo of the food after I have up and couldn't force myself to eat any more. The other egg rolls are untouched in the bag.
Don't waste your money on this garbage. A combo plate at Manchu Wok is cheaper and WAY tastier. So that's how...
