To begin with this is for a birthday and our very first visit at the place. Went online to book a reservation. Their website has this message: "this website has a critical error". making it impossible to book reservations on top that you cannot read their menu. Just a blank page. Not sure how long this "error" been like that but not a good start. I called for a reservation for 4 and was confirmed. Being Wednesday (50% off on wings), the place had about 30 people. It felt like I walked in the past. The decor was antiquated going back to the 80s. Felt that it hadn't been renovated in years. Our server admitted he was still in training. Understandably I felt sorry for him as he looked very nervous as we needed to repeat out order several times so he could write it down on his note book. He did his best and cannot fault him. We ordered one beer, iced tea and coke, an order of: fish and chips, shrimp tacos, Hamburger with a side salad, and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. For appetizers: 2 pounds of wings and spinach artichoke dip with the smallest amount of corn chips and dry pita bread. The dip was tasteless. The wings were drenched in sauce rendering them soggy. Being a pub and the way they pride themselves on the quality of their fish and chip, I don't know where they got the idea. The fish was very soggy and mushy and tasteless, the fries are not freshly cut rather frozen and served dry. My guest had a bite of the fish and left it aside. The shrimp tacos: the shrimp tasted like chicken and weren't fresh. My guess they were previously frozen. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich; tasteless, steak overcooked, under seasoned, the hot dog bun was left too long on the grill and was hard as rock. The fries so dry the salt wouldn't stick to them. I ended leaving the bun aside and nibbled on the chewy meat. Not sure why they served the hamburger open faced with the tomato and lettuce (no onions) stacked under second half of the bun leaving us to "dress it up".. Even the salt in the shaker was hard as rock where I needed to chip it out with my knife. No ketchup was offered. Needless to say we walked out very disappointed. Our first and last visit. Shame cuz we live steps away from this place and we could have made this our go to place. Nah.. it won't happen. What I can expect though as a response to my review is the usual where the "owner" will write a scripted message to the effect that "we are sorry about your experience as we pride...blah blah blah and will address the issue and hope to see you...
Read moreWent here yesterday for brunch with a group of friends. My friend and myself were seated promptly after getting our vaccine passports checked out. Not long after, my other friend arrived and waited at the hostess stand for 5-7 minutes without being acknowledged. She decided to join the table and get her vaccine passport looked at there. As she sat down, our waitress comes over and in a snarky tone says "for future reference, please wait at the door". My friend, who recently broke her arm explained that she waited up to 7 minutes and was not acknowledged. The waitress responds in a rude tone "doesn't matter, you have to wait". The waitress was working alone and as someone who has worked in the service industry for years, I had sympathy for this but she should have communicated with my friend that she would be at the hostess stand soon to check her vaccine passport. After this, we saw another couple arrive and walk right up to the bar and seat themselves. The waitress did not blink an eye or ask for their vaccination status and started serving them. After the whole party arrived, we were asked by the server if we were ready to order our food. We said yes and the server proceeded to walk away without saying anything to get a note pad to write on. We then ordered our food. Brunch comes with coffee and we were not asked if we wanted any so one of my friends got up from the table to track the server down to get 4 cups of coffee. Coffee came hot but we didn't receive spoons for stirring.
Only giving one star because the food was delicious. Hot and tasted fresh! The kitchen definitely...
Read moreHorrible experience tonight. We walked in as a team like we usually do on Mondays. The second we walked in the male bartender said it would take forever for our order. Then proceeded to curse outloud and throw his pen at his screen in frustration.
We then waited 2 hours for our order of wings. After the 2 hours only half of our order came out and when the bartender came back to the table we told him they forgot half of our order. He freaked out a bit and as he walked away he slammed his hand on a different table in frustration again. The room went silent. He was and always is extremely unprofessional. Always gives a horrible experience as he's always upset to accept our business (our table spends around $400).
The other girl working was lovely but extremely overwhelmed.
When we told them we'd really appreciate if they could discount some of our bill as our total dining time was 3 hours for wings. They took off 9 soft drinks. When we asked if they could take care of a few wings (especially the second half that came out 30 minutes after the first batch came out even though they were ordered at the same time. They arrived 2.5 hours into our dining experience). They said that unfortunately they could not and didn't really care to save our experience.
We love the oak. We go quite frequently. CenterPoint is hands down the worst experience. And the male bartender there is embarassing. The women at our table felt extremely uncomfortable as well as kind of scared when he lashed out in frustration.
Will not be going to that...
