Not my first time buying my meat here, I started to come here a few months ago. The meat is top notch, what I am about to say - has nothing to do with the meat. I ordered 3 lbs of ground beef ( 1 lb each pkg ) none in the freezer, which I like. Service was great, but what I noticed, was the woman who took my order did put a glove on. Put the meat on the butcher paper, weight the meat, punch in ( with the glove she had on ) the button on the scale - put that sticky paper on her shoulder, to be put on the package meat, this happened 3 times. Not very sanitary. I also bought 3 sausage rolls ( second time ) as I bought 2 the previous visit. It seemed the person who put the roll together, put in a sausage wrapped in phyllo dough forgot to put a bit more spices in the mix, and maybe cooked it longer, first rolls I had middle was cooked but pink. Edges of the dough was were kind of hard, not as DELICIOUS as the first ones I previously had. Unless there are different flavors / rolls on display - that is not advised. Hence, the 3 stars. Got an awesome turkey from them (before their move) for Thanksgiving + a charcuterie board, and every experience I've had sourcing meat from Around the Block has been great. They provided steaks and sausages for my friend's wedding during COVID, which was also phenomenal.
The other day me and my brother were running around looking for anchovies and we called to ask if they had any on shelf - they didn't, but said we could drop by the new Centrepointe location and they'd sling us what we needed from their own bulk order. We literally just needed two for puttanesca and I offered to buy a bunch just to make it worth their time, and the owner instead chucked us two for no charge. 👍 Absolute GOATed behaviour.

Read moreI have had so many "best evers" from Around the Block Butcher that it's starting to get silly. Specifically though, the breakfast sausages are something to truly marvel. The amount of flavour in a sausage seemingly so lean (in the world of breakfast sausage) is incredible! The pan was basically dry after cooking, unlike sausages from a chain, which end up swimming in a pan full of fat by the time they're done. So good with just a touch of maple, unbelievably fresh tasting, a 100% recommend!
For lunch time, their turkey breast is the best in the city, and every sammie I've had there stands up against the other long-time greats in the city. Beyond anything with turkey, I would also steer you towards their hot chicken salad, or if you're beefy they have a drool-worthy brisket and cheese on fresh rye bread.
