In search for weekend brunch this place came up we thought of trying it out. Parking in streets is not existent. Had really look at side streets a bit far to get one. All the nearby spots are reserved for the apartment dwellers in the building.
Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra
A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through.
And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu.
The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well.
When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow.
An extra star for giving tons of...
Read moreCan't say it was my favourite place, it was my mistake though. I took the miso teriyaki chicken which came with cooked Bok Choy, I just didn't expect so much of it. I opted for the wrap. I didn't like it because the sandwich was very dry. The wrap is thick but holds poorly when wet by the Bok Choy leaves and didn't take very long for my fingers to start poking through as I ate. There wasn't enough condiment in the sandwich or much going on really, it was just a generous amount of chicken, which was tasty, with a lot of Bok Choy and maybe 3 green onion slices. Every time I had an onion bite, my wrap improved greatly. I'm not sure what could be added to this sandwich, maybe remove the miso and add different vegetables? It basically tasted like a plain stir fry in a wrap.
Price was good, it was pretty large sandwich. The seating area is a bit dark and the menu was just a piece of paper. I wasn't sure where to look to order until I saw the page on the ordering counter so if there's a long line you wouldn't be able to decide ahead of time. The desserts looked great but wasn't hungry for anything else after my wrap.
I liked the option of lemon water but the dispenser is incredibly slow at pouring.
There's a lot of large tables to sit at but very little small group tables. Was a bit awkward to pick a spot to sit.
Additionally I was thinking of ordering a drink but the fridge with the options was too far away and dark to see what was on display.
Unfortunately I don't think I will be...
