5 stars for the food and the lovely lady who served us.
The food was very good, and the service from one particular staff member—a kind and friendly lady—was excellent. She made us feel welcome and comfortable, and I truly appreciate her warm attitude. However, I do want to share a disappointing part of our experience. Before arriving, I called ahead and clearly explained that my wife has a disability and cannot stand for more than 10 seconds, even with assistance. When we got there, the nice lady who had been helping us kindly offered that my wife could sit on a tall chair at the counter while we waited for a table, since it was first-come, first-served. It was a thoughtful gesture, and my wife took the seat just to rest while we waited. Unfortunately, another staff member—a different waitress—approached with a noticeably cold and unfriendly attitude. She said, without a smile, “I need to clear the counter.” I explained that my wife was just resting and wouldn’t be dining there, due to her condition. Despite that, she insisted and made us feel unwelcome, all while maintaining a blank, unkind demeanor. The most frustrating part? After asking my wife to stand and not sit, she didn’t even clean the counter right away. She left us standing for another minute or two before removing the dishes—and still didn’t clean it after that. I was close to raising the issue further, because I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity—especially those with visible health conditions. The only reason I held back was because I didn’t want to spoil what was meant to be a rare and happy outing for my wife. And honestly, the only reason I’m not giving this place 1 star is because of the lovely lady who treated us so well—and because my wife specifically asked me to leave a positive review. So yes, the place is good. The food is tasty. One of the servers was outstanding. But I sincerely hope the rest of the staff learns to treat all customers with basic empathy and respect—especially those who...
Read moreTypically I don't write reviews, especially negative ones as they can really harm local business, but for this place I had to. I always hear really great things about this restaurant, so decided to try to order delivery.
First of all, this restaurant never listens to added notes/instructions for the food, which can be detrimental if you have food allergies or restrictions. Their menu is over priced, and the food is ALWAYS (without fail) cold once it arrives... I live 10 mins away from he restaurant, so I have no idea how this always happens.
To give more detail, I am a vegetarian and the first time I ordered from here I got the eggs Benedict, but I specifically wrote in the instructions to please remove the meat... low and behold there is still meat on my food. I decided that must have been a fluke and ordered from here again a few weeks later. Same deal, I wrote special instructions that were completely ignored. I decided to give this place one last try this morning, and my food was freezing, was spilt everywhere, and they forgot a part of my order.
I understand a slip up here and there with delivery orders, however 3/3 times where my order was completely messed up? That is ridiculous. I don't know who this restaurant is paying to write positive reviews about them, but avoid this place unless you want overpriced cold food, that is most likely missing a part of the order, or has some special instruction ignored. For a local place, you'd think they'd pay more attention to their customers and their needs... truly...
Read moreSmall restaurant with limited seating, but we were able to get seated quickly on a Saturday afternoon.
Ordered The Ben (double), the hash with pork belly, and a side of sausage links.
The Ben looked great on paper but missed. The brie was somewhat melted, but relatively cool such that it missed the gooey warm texture I was hoping for. However, the part that made the sandwich a miss for me was the hot cranberry mustard. The "hot" in this case came from what I assume was a large amount of horseradish which overpowered all the other flavours of the sandwich. I would not recommend it.
However, the dish was saved by the homefries. Easily top 3 breakfast homefries I've ever eaten, and for that reason I'm bumping this up to a 4 star. They were very crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside. You wouldn't think so by the pictures, but they were phenomenal.
The sausage links were definitely better than most breakfast spots I've been to.
Overall id come here again for the delicious home fries, and perhaps try something else on the...
