Edit: after not visiting for some time, we saw a promotion on Instagram for a free beef roll with each bowl, so we went back. The staff working there told us first that there was no such promotion, and when we showed them the Instagram post (from only 6 days ago), they changed tack and claimed that the promotions changed every Tuesday. My partner decided to try one of the available promotions, braised pork with rice. It was served in a plastic take-out container placed on a plate - obviously pre-made and reheated, and very unimpressive. There was not much flavour to the food.
For my hot pot bowl, when weighing the order the staff asked me if I wanted rice as well. I explicitly asked if the rice was included together with the hot pot bowl (as it has been in the past) or if I would need to pay extra for it. She dodged the question by saying that if I wanted to eat rice then I could get rice (which doesn't even need saying in the first place). My husband clarified with her that the rice would be included with the hot pot bowl rather than subject to an extra charge, and the staff confirmed this. I therefore opted for rice. I also explicitly told her that I did not want coriander in my food. When my food arrived, it had coriander in it. The chicken meat in the soup also tasted decidedly gamey and unpleasant.
We ordered the chicken skin skewers, the seasoning was still good but the chicken skin also had a gamey and undercooked taste to it that was quite sickening.
When my husband went to settle the bill, he saw that we had been charged extra for the bowl of rice. The staff insisted that she had not said it was not subject to an extra charge. My husband did not want to argue further with her in front of our young child, so he just paid for it.
Overall absolutely horrible experience and a huge change from how this place used to be. We have been patronizing Perfect Meat Bowl for years, but after today we will never...
Read moreI’ve tried it for the first time this Wednesday and it was the worst experience ever. I’ve had an upset stomach since then. They aren’t serving fresh food, and I would avoid visiting this place. I should’ve read the reviews before coming here, as a lot of people are complaining about the same stuff. The health department should visit them honestly!
The first thing was something minor which was the rice not being cooked properly, it was all mushy, but that’s mostly a personal preference and not really a big deal. However, the waitress was really nice about it, we returned it and they didn’t charged us for it. But then we had a second issue, which was that the tofu was in a bad state, it tasted sour. We mentioned it to the waitress and she was kind enough to offer us a discount for the problem. We get that some stuff may spoil, specially if it’s outside displayed in the way it is. And I believe management should do something to avoid that.
Yet, the big issue was that later we ordered some of the fried crunchy chicken skewers or whatever they are called and those tasted sour too (chicken shouldn’t taste like that). When we mention it to one of the waitress, she was rude and replied “well others one have ordered it too, and haven’t complained.” But What kind of answer it that? Why would we lie? Or worse why would you purposefully serve something bad and get mad when people complain about it? Or serve something bad and rely on people being too shy to complain ? However to prove our point we had saved one skewer so either the cooks or she tried it and realized that we weren’t lying. She then took it back to the kitchen and came back saying that it was true it was bad, and they would open a new batch and redo it for us. Couple minutes later we got the new skewers and even through they tasted way better than the first ones, they still weren’t exactly good, I doubt the new batch was exactly...
Read moreHad lunch here with 5 other friends and we had a great time!!!! For most, it’s their first time trying this style of cuisine/ food…… They offer soup based large portion that can accommodate 2-4 people easily. They also have already cooked food, like fried chicken cutlet and sweet sausages and many other dishes. The best is to combine both soup based platters with side orders of skewers and dishes so you can sample and eat a whole varieties of food without breaking the bank!!! We had 2 pots ….. one gluten free. 2 different flavours and they both turn out great!!! You decide ingredients in the fridge you want to add to your soup base They have many seafood and tofu options for those want something different then the regular meats Make sure you have combination of protein and veggies. Pick you soup base and then they will cook the soup in pit for you!! We also added beef to the soup and the beef was Chinese stir fried great…. Tender and flavourful!! Make sure you try out their fried chicken cutlet. Crispy outside and tasty all over….. even the ones who said they don’t like gluten…..took a few bites……
Overall, friendly staff who took their time explaining to us and tasty food….
The only negative is probably the cold draft from the door every time it’s open. Hopefully they can remedy that...
