KHALIL SEAFOOD — Restaurant in Ottawa

I was regular customer to this location before I move from Ottawa, this restaurant is always my choice every time i visit the area, unfortunately this particular time was the worse, i always come for the shrimp and potatoes they were so good. But this visit the shrimp was burned the smell and the taste was awful so i asked them to change it, the reaction surprised me they said the shrimp is not burned I insisted that it taste bad they offered to cancel the order for no charge but i asked them to only change it and cook like always (don’t over burn it) the manager agreed but the waiter started discussing this is not burned we can cook it in different way, I didn’t drive all this way from Toronto to Orleans to a specific restaurant and order specific meal without knowing what I’m going to eat. So I chose to cancel the order just to stop the arguing party. We ordered 2 type of fish and they weren’t cooked well I usually make way better barbecue myself. What happened when it was time to pay the chief came out and started arguing about the shrimp and he insisted it wasn’t burned I regretted the visit and the time and money I waisted just because they couldn’t accept my opinion about something obviously clear by sight by smell and by taste. PLEASE LEARN TO BE PROFESSIONAL WITH YOUR CUSTOMER AND TREAT THEM RESPECTFULLY WHEN They SAY ITS OVER BURNED AND DOESN’t taste good it mean it’s. I didn’t ask for order cancellation i asked for replacement. Honestly it will be my last visit will rather go to Montreal location with professional staff than waste time here. I regretted not take a photo for the burned shrimps but it’s still clear on the piece i tried in the photo if you look at the photo the burned one was what i got and the other photo was from their gallery posted by another customer for the grilled shrimp which is exactly where they use to...

Waiters did their best, they worked really hard and were very polite. Food was delicious and nice presentation. The place was so tight that you could barely move out of your seat. Tables were too close to each other, hardly any space to move or for customers to stand in line and our table was not even reserved like we were told when we called ahead. We had to wait for a table to open up. The place was so crowded, unfortunately we couldn't hear each other on top of the unnecessary loud music. You could only talk to the person right next to you (barely). Finally, they did not even have a menu to choose from (not a menu book and not an actual menu on the board). Online website has a poor menu as well. There are no pictures or full menu with pictures. You had to order at the front and you had to be ready to order but there's no space to stand and "look." Overall very unorganized and tight spaced. Not all food was at the front so definitely a menu would have been helpful here. Needs a bigger place or less tables and definitely more waiters since it took too long to get a hold of anyone. The place was so crowded, the waiters took 2 or 3 of our chairs to accommodate another family while we were seated at the table. Unbelievable. Of course, we had to have them hunt down chairs to replace the ones they gave away. The way the 3 waiters quickly wiped the tables was disgusting. It was just a few quick swipes to hurry up and just pick up the crumbs. Very unsanitary. They did that for every table. I am sure the waiters felt under a lot of pressure trying to satisfy every customer and quickly open up tables but it was quantity over quality. Maybe they wouldn't have to do that if the restaurant hired more waiters since they kept trying to accommodate everyone that came in to dine-in when all tables...

The service is lacking. At 6pm I ordered fried calamari, grilled jumbo shrimp and a large salad for pick up. In fairness, they did indicate that it was busy. However, when my wife arrived to pick up the food at approx. 6:45pm, the food was not ready. She proceeded to ask a waiter about the order, he indicated that he would check and then never returned. A little while later, she asked yet another waiter who checked and returned to tell her to speak with the manager. So she did, only to be told, the order was never put in. It was 7:20pm by the time the food was finally ready.

When my wife approached the cash to pay, she was expecting some sort of compensation...she was told the food is too expensive. Clearly our time and patronage was not worth that. They did however, offer an insulting $2 off a large salad that was entirely made up of romaine lettuce, a quarter of a tomato and some onion. This they have the nerve to sell for $8. To add to the insult, they forgot the cocktail sauce and the tarter sauce.

The seafood was good, the salad sad but what really ruined the meal was the lousy service, the utter lack of concern on their part and a customer left feeling that there was no recourse whatsoever. Given the price...unforgivable.

Thus, my first ever review of any business ever...truly. I can't emphasize how much poor customer service can absolutely put to ruin an otherwise...
