La Brioche Pastry & Bakery (Glebe) — Restaurant in Ottawa

My daughter is allergic to peaches and I placed the same order i get EVERY YEAR for my kids and my birthday 🎂 for a Strawberry cream cake with only strawberries. Picked up my cake as usual and when I gave it to her and family last night it was full of all kinds of fruits including peaches. My daughter was not allowed to have any if her birthday cake due to the mix up and them adding peaches. Ok I figure its a mistake and I always had great service so I called and the person in the evening was very rude to me and refused to tell me her name and hung up on me not even caring about the mix up and reason for my call. No one will take my information for the manager to call me back and he is not in everytime I call they say I don't know I don't know call back tomorrow...meanwhile my daughter still has not had one piece of her own birthday cake due to a mistake on their part and no one is offering any solution to resolve a 15 year old who was looking forward to her favorite cake in the world without mixed fruits and not one strawberry inside like I ordered. I love my Lebanese pastries so when I decide to indulge I come to La Brioche. They are always so fresh and have a wide assortment that keeps me coming back. However, I recently put my faith into them to create a cake for a special occasion and sadly it did not satisfy quite like their pastries do. I sent them a simple design to replicate, which they confidently confirmed they could recreate, and when I came to pick up the cake I was unimpressed at how poorly it compared to the image I had showed them. Firstly, the fondant on the cake was noticeably too thick – I could tell without even without cutting into it. The words written on it were uneven and awkwardly spaced out. The design on the center was off to the side. It just looked like it was thrown together at the last second. I asked for chocolate cake with strawberry filling, but the chocolate was more like black forest. It tasted good but could have been better. Oh and I waited an hour for them to finish the cake. On a recent occasion, I ordered a few small cakes, and I found the price, which totaled $3.75 each, to be rather steep compared to the quality I expected. I inquired specifically about whether the cakes were fresh, and I was assured they were. However, it became evident to me that they had been previously frozen, leading me to believe that I was misled. The cakes tasted as though they had been stored in a freezer for an extended period, which was disheartening. I urge you not to waste your money on products that do not meet reasonable freshness standards. Furthermore, I must express my dissatisfaction with the service I received; it was subpar at best. There appears to be a pressing need for an improvement in staff training to ensure that honesty and transparency are upheld in customer interactions.
