Milo's Pastry — Restaurant in Ottawa

When my mom was 5 a kid at her daycare received a cake with gold leaves on it for their birthday. She wasn’t too fond of the daycare so decided to wait until her birthday and if she didn’t get a cake with gold leaves on it, she would ask to not go back. Come her birthday, she never got a cake with gold leaves, and she told her mom she didn’t want to go back. Yesterday was her 57th birthday, (but if you ask her she’s 26.) and my boyfriend and I ordered a cake with gold leaves on it from Milos’ pastries on very short notice. They pulled it off beautifully! The cake itself was chocolate cheesecake, which she is very particular about. It was so rich and perfectly balanced (cheesecake lovers know that even at most restaurants they come frozen, and fluffed up, and it’s hard to get right even making it yourself). The gold leaves were fondant and so delicate and detailed, and the icing was light and creamy. 11/10 would recommend Milos’ pastries for custom cakes, deserts and treats. While you’re there try “knefeh” traditional Lebanese cheese desert with syrup and breading- absolutely to die for!! AND THEY HAVE VEGAN BAKLAVA !!

Recently, my family ordered a fruit tart from Milo's Bakery to celebrate my sister's anniversary. Having frequented Milo's Bakery for their delicious cakes in the past, we were excited to indulge in their fruit tart. However, our experience this time left much to be desired.

While the custard filling boasted a delightful flavor, reminiscent of their usual high standards, we were disappointed by the crust. Regrettably, it was overly hard, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the tart.

Milo's Bakery has set a precedent for excellence with its cakes, which is why this experience was particularly disheartening. Though we understand that inconsistencies can occur, we had hoped for a more consistent standard of quality, especially for a special occasion like an anniversary.

Despite this setback, we remain hopeful that Milo's Bakery will address this issue, ensuring that future customers can enjoy their treats without encountering similar disappointments. We appreciate the efforts of the bakery and look forward to the opportunity to enjoy their delicious creations once again, hopefully with the assurance of a softer, more...

Update Review: We recently ordered a cake and served it the next day. I thought it was dry and returned it to the store. She immediately thanked me for coming back with the half-eaten cake and looked into it. She spoke to the baker and came back explaining that the cake was indeed fresh but what I saw as "dry" was in fact the European way and she offered a partial refund. I think this is GREAT customer service; the business was not wrong, but did something positive to satisfy the customer. Thank you for that. We will be back!

One time we ordered cake pops for a baby shower (all white inside with one being blue); amazing! We've had other pastries; amazing! And the staff is very pleasant.
