The kabobs was one of best I have had in Ottawa, definitely recommend it. In particular, the toursh kabab was a crowd-pleaser, with many people enjoying it. However, one area that could be improved upon is the rice - while it wasn't bad, it didn't quite live up to the high standards set by the quality of the meat.
Second visit (reduced 2 stars) : Despite having made reservations and arriving on time, our dining experience was plagued with several issues. We attempted to order appetizers, but the waitress only took one order before disappearing for 40 minutes. We had to wait for 45 minutes before receiving any drinking water, and it was of such poor quality that it was undrinkable. It had a terrible taste, akin to melted ice from a day before. We recommend that the restaurant invest in a good quality carbon filter to improve the taste of their water.
When the waitress returned, she only brought some of our drink orders and even splashed one of our guests with a drink by accident. Orders were eventually taken for our main courses and a second set of appetizers, but one of our guests complained about the speed of the order taking. The waitress then mistakenly blamed us for the delay, causing further issues and misunderstandings.
As our meals arrived at different times, we were unable to enjoy them together, with some guests already finished with their appetizers while others were just starting their main courses. Despite requesting a dessert menu, we never received one, and our overall dining experience was poor. However, the quality of the food was good, and everyone enjoyed it.
We understand that being short-staffed can lead to issues, but the restaurant should be mindful of their capacity and not overbook to the point where they cannot provide adequate service. It was disappointing that no management was present to apologize for the issues we encountered, and it was left to the waitress to offer apologies and reassurances that these problems would not happen again. We believe that this restaurant has potential, but we urge management to take a long-term view and improve their management practices to avoid similar issues...
Read moreThis was my first time dining at this Persian restaurant, and it was a truly pleasant experience. Our soccer team organized a dinner for nearly 40 people—players and parents—and everything went smoothly.
The reservations were handled exactly as requested, and the staff went above and beyond to provide excellent service. I ordered the Chicken Kabab: 200g of charbroiled, marinated, boneless chicken breast. It came with rice and an onion salad, plus a side garden salad and a delicious mushroom soup. Everything tasted fantastic.
We were seated promptly upon arrival. The servers managed the group effortlessly, even accommodating our request to seat players and parents at separate tables and coordinating the bills accordingly. They also offered to hang our coats, which was a nice touch.
Once we were seated, our server gave us menus and brought us water. She returned shortly after to answer our questions about the dishes, and she was incredibly helpful. She explained that the main courses included a small salad and a sample cup of soup—which turned out to be delicious. Her friendly attitude and clear explanations really added to the experience.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all friendly and attentive. Persis is truly a hidden gem in Bells Corners, located at the base of the Days Inn Hotel at Moodie and Robertson Road. I had no idea this place existed, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn they also have a second location.
We left fully satisfied with our meals, and it’s always a pleasure to visit a restaurant where you feel genuinely appreciated as a customer. Persis is absolutely worth a visit if you’re looking to try authentic Persian cuisine—we’ll...
Read moreMy first visit to Persis Grill left much to be desired. Despite a welcoming ambiance and well-arranged tables, the overall experience fell short of expectations. From lacklustre appetizers to overpriced main courses, the restaurant failed to deliver on taste and value. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us with a warm smile, setting a promising tone for the evening. However, the optimism quickly waned as we delved into the menu. Our appetizers, unfortunately, failed to impress. The soup lacked any discernible flavor, leaving us underwhelmed, while the kashk-e-bademjan was equally devoid of taste.
Opting for the special for two platters as our main course, we found it mediocre at best. Despite its hefty price tag, the quantity and quality of the dish left much to be desired. It was evident that the prices did not align with the portions offered the servers made sincere efforts to provide good service, and their lack of experience and knowledge regarding the menu items was apparent. This detracted from the overall dining experience, as we found ourselves uncertain about the dishes being served.
Moreover, the pricing seemed excessive, with cocktails priced at $14.99 and a three-skewer platter commanding a steep $57.99. The additional charge of $14 for extra nuts on top of the rice further compounded the issue of overpricing.
Despite these shortcomings, the ambiance of Persis Grill deserves commendation, earning it four stars. However, the food quality and service fell short of expectations, warranting only two stars for food and three stars for service.
In conclusion, while Persis Grill offers a pleasant atmosphere, the overall quality of food and service may leave diners...
