Voila Gluten Free Bakeree Kanata — Restaurant in Ottawa

I just came from Voila. What an awful experience! Customer service is not present at all. After standing outside in the winter, because the capacity is 4 people. Yikes! I finally made it inside, with no pleasant greetings . I order a salted caramel cupcake and an eggnog cupcake. I didn't realize I only got one of the cupcakes until I got to the cash. I did want to try the raspberry pop tart and a cookie,. However, when I ask the first lady who served me for help, the one with the stern unfriendly expression, she told me that the other gentleman would help me. He was already serving another customer and there was no one else in the stone at the time I don't know about you, but having someone who is handling money all day, is NOT someone I want touching my food! They should put the items by him in prepackaged containers. It's disgusting! I haven't tasted anything yet, but I will...

I see the other positive reviews and I feel really bad leaving this one, but my wife and I got food poisoned from this place.

For context, we've eaten food here many times and had no issues, but this time we both got hit.

My wife had a scone and had a severe case of food poisoning. At first we thought it must be something else -- after all, how can you possibly get food poisoned from a bakery, right? But she hadn't eaten anything else. Anyways... we figured it was some random bug and put it out of mind.

More than a week later, I thawed out some frozen goods from this bakery and then it was my turn to pay. Two days of pain from both ends. I've never seen anything like it and it was quite severe.

We've eaten from here at least 5x and never had any issues until now. My wife says she will still try them another time, but after my episode, I will never...

We chose Voila as our dessert vendor for our wedding since we had several guests and family members with allergies. They are a nut free and gluten free bakery, and are very knowledgeable about their products. We were confident in serving their desserts to our guests with food allergies. They were flexible with us adjusting the order as our guest list changed. We ordered a few dozen of their alfajore and jam jam cookies for our wedding, which all but disappeared during the evening. Their cupcakes were also delicious! They’ve continued to be our main bakery for our family events; we ordered a huge lemon cake for my mother’s birthday which was devoured by the guests!
