PLEASE NOTE: This is the first time I have done a review of this type, and I'm not sure why it is showing up under my brother's name, JEFF JODOIN. I am Jeff's sister, SHERRY DREW, Orleans Ontario, and the following comments are MINE AND MINE ALONE. Jeff was NOT present at this dinner. THESE ARE NOT HIS COMMENTS. THANK YOU.
On Thursday, October 16th, 7 friends and myself went to dinner here. My experience was most unacceptable. Being my first time at St. Louis, I inquired of the server if the ribs were really good, that is, fall off the bone good. She said they were. I was the only one of the 8 that ordered ribs. The price: $17.99 for a half rack. I got my meal and noticed hardly any sauce on them, so I asked for extra, which was provided. I started to eat and cut through 2 of the ribs, they were pretty good but the meat did not fall off the bone. When I got to the 3rd rib, I noticed a hard, black chunk when I cut them. Upon turning the remaining ribs over, they were charred so badly I would not have been able to cut through them. I was appalled that I was served ribs in this condition. Everyone at the table felt the same way. Needless to say, I called the server over, and she referred the matter to her supervisor. This person was very nice and agreed that I should not have received ribs in this condition and took the plate way (hopefully to bring them back to the cook who prepared them). She asked if she could bring me a replacement, but I had eaten all the fries, and the cole slaw, and after this experience I wasn't interested in eating any more ribs, so I was offered a free dessert, which cost $5.99. Upon further thinking of this experience, I really don't think a free dessert was enough compensation, since I paid $17.99 for this meal, which by the way is way too expensive for the amount of food provided. To top it off, when I got my bill, there was an appetizer (deep fried pickles) on my bill that I hadn't ordered. All in all, my experience was not good, so I would never recommend anyone ordering ribs at St. Louis Bar and Grill. If you do order ribs, flip them over before you cut into them. I would rate it one star, although I don't like the word 'hate', but I just cannot give it a higher rating. Sherry...
Read moreFantastic service. Friendly, courteous, and oh-so fast! Amanda (blonde, star tattoo) at the Clyde location in Ottawa was a fantastic server.
I have tried wings at probably around 15 pubs in Ottawa over the years, and I can successfully say that after my first visit, St. Louis is now up there with Hooley's on Elgin in my books. It'd put Wild Wing in 3rd place for size, quality of wing, and price point on cheap nights.
Amanda greeted us quickly, got all our orders right, even had little things down to a science, such as quickly stating that it was a Pepsi product location, and thus had 7 Up and not Sprite. She noticed that was important to me and specifically pointed it out to me. I'll drink either, but she got her facts straight. Other things were noticed, such as placing the bank card into the machine herself rather than letting the customer fumble with it- increases efficiency. She refilled my glass just as I was about to ask her to refill it- I hadn't even signaled or indicated it in any way and she came and asked and did it. Even refilled the other 3 guests at my tables' drinks when some were only half empty with the correct soft drink.
The boneless wings were also better than I had ever had for boneless wings. The dill sauce was great, and I think we all like each flavour ordered at the table (cajun, BBQ honey, hotter than hell, hot boneless, buffalo ranch). Pop wasn't diluted, was properly carbonated, perfect amount of ice, very quick service after a 5 minute table wait for walk-in and quick service throughout during a full house at the restaurant.
10/10, A+ Will come back and will recommend to friends, well...
Read moreThat was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at restaurant. It was quiet when we arrived and our server Paige was pleasant to begin with. It quickly went south. We waited nearly 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. She handed our drinks and just walked away. About 10 minutes later she came back and took our order. Meals arrived and we never saw her again. She never asked for refills of our drinks, asked how our meal was or if we needed anything. The weirdest thing was, and we were all talking about it, was how many times there wasn't a server on the floor(anywhere). I think we timed 4 minutes until we saw someone come out. Everyone was hiding inside kitchen or something. We watched some poor guy track down a server just to ask for a menu!!! After completing our meals and waiting another 20 minutes (sadly not exaggerating) my friend had to track her down to get our bills. At which point she just brought them to us. She didn't ask who was with who or if anyone was combined paying, just walked around dropping receipts. But hey, at least she got 4 of the 7 orders correct... thats quite the standard.
Last time we come there after sports. It was a biweekly traditon. What an awful experience. 1h 30 mins for 1 beer and a meal.
No sorry we're understaffed, I'm new etc. No communication. Not sure what hell was going on.
No thank you, goodbye or anything. We paid and she literally just turned her back and walked away...
