We were at the Zaki Broast last night for a family dinner. I called them to inform that we will be around 32 people and if we could make reservation. However, they dont take reservation. We ordered 6 Fried chicken (12pcs each), 3 Greek Salad, 3 Rice, 4 Chicken Kabob, 2 Steak sandwich meal suppose to come with 8 Fries and dinner buns and 5 bottled drinks. Service was horrible at this place. First they took more than an hour to serve the food. Once the food was ready they only gave us our 6 chicken plates, took another 20 min to serve our chicken kabob, never gave us the rice we ordered, had to ask them few times for our dinner buns and greek salad. only gave few fries and wanted us to wait. I have been to many restaurants that serves similar kind of food but never experienced such horrible service. Like seriously rice, salad, fries and bus should be always ready and served with your meal. We had 8 kids with us and all of them finished their chicken before rice and fries came. Finally we ordered another 12pcs chicken with spicy sauce. This will have to be the worst spicy sauce ever you apply on a chicken. It was very very salty. Our first visit few months back with same 32 people was very excellent. However, they have short stuff and dont really care about service. If it stays like this, I wonder how long this place...
Read moreWow! Wow! Wow! I was a long time fan when Zaki first opened many years back! However, they had a little trouble when they changed their recipes by the previous owner which made business hard and covid hit the business even harder but I am reviewing this again after a long time coming back and I can tell you the new owners stuck true to their original recipes that made them famous when they first opened and the lambchops with just the right amount of fat just melts in my mouth with the flavor of Charcoal and the tenderness of the meat just gives you that wonderful feeling of complete satisfaction. Their Half chicken is also very tender and flavourful!! Yummy all around. My parents are vegetarian and I asked if the cook could grill some veggies in charcoal and that's exactly he made a custom grilled veggies that was so good that I had to keep going back multiple times. What a considerate restaurant that really tries to accommodate my requests. This is a 5 star restaurant going far beyond for their customers and the ladies in the front desk are always happy to help as much as they can. Highly recommend the food and the eating experience of food right of the grill. So order early as it takes time and love to make food this great! I recommend eating in versus take out as the flavor and juices burst more when coming off...
Read moreI was craving fried chicken, and of course I always try to find local, so we decided to try Zaky, a family owner restaurant in the west end of ottawa, on Clyde and Baseline. This place was also recommended by a fellow foodie, as they have a great philly cheesesteak. The restaurant was really nice, lots of space to eat, and the staff were super friendly and inviting, they were happy to hear that someone recommended their restaurant. They have lots of options on their menu. We got the family meal deal, 9 piece, large frie, dips and 4 dinner rolls. I also grabbed a poutine and the must try philly sandwich. When we got home everything was this hot and looked delicious! The fried chicken was crispy, juicy and not to greasy. Their method of cooking their chicken is called Broasting (I put their description in the pictures). The philly cheesesteak was good, lots of meat, I would have loved a little more cheese but otherwise it was delicious (sad I had to share with hubby lol) and as for the poutine, the gravy was really good, our 5year old loved it very much and she was excited to see cheese curds lol. If you are in the area you should check them out!! #supportlocal...
