Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Ottawa

The first two times we ate at the Sunset Grill, the food and service were superb. The owner was on site both times and I think that made all the difference in the world. The third time, before today's visit, was mediocre . Food was ok, for some reason the toast of as cold and lacked butter. Service that day was awful, practically non-existent. No refills offered for our coffee and we had to hunt the server down for our bill. But today's poor food and service took the cake. I ordered the light breakfast, egg over medium, with a fruit bowl. The egg was about half an egg that'd been cut, making into a pie shape, it is as cold and the yolk was as hard as it could ever be. My fruit salad was ok if I could ignore the seven rotten strawberries sprinkled across the top. Making the entire salad inedible. So my hubby gave me a few of his home fries so I'd have some actual food to eat, and they were burnt so hard that I hurt my tooth and they were cold as well. I'm not sure what happened to the amazing food and service I had on my two first visits, but it's definitely gone down hill. Our inital experiences of breakfast at this place were nice and satisfactory. However, yesterday I made a tiny request to the server to have my fries well done as I don’t like slimy home fries. The order was served with the same cold slimy home fries. When brought to the waitress’s attention that the order was not served as requested, they got extremely rude and mad at us. Mentioned that the kitchen is too busy to customize my order. Took away my plate in an angry manner to replace my fries. While we were eating another waitress showed up saying that next time they will not make my fries well done and we’re not welcome to the restaurant if we come with such requests. Oh Lord, extraordinarily complicated request eh! We were shocked to see after-effects of our tiny request. Felt as if we committed a crime for asking welldone crispy fries lol. Generally we have noticed that some of their waitresses are rude at this location. Which is why whenever we had a nice and polite waitress, I walked over to Dean, the manager, for recommendation and appreciate her efforts. Not sure if we will...

My wife and I are from the London,UK .We ,fancied a break from our morning walk around the park .We,happened to ' POP IN ' into this beautiful ,clean ,richly coffee smelling aroma and all the invisible 'wellcoming' signs around the staff in the restaurant.The staff ,Lawrie ,Sarah and Deen were hugely friendly,smilingly introduced themselves,used our names too ,gave us enough time to settle down. We, took note of their suggestions regarding breakfast .Lawrie was just amazingky friendly and customer friendly,too.
