We had a very unpleasant experience at the Taj Mahal of the Glebe. The server’s attitude towards us was that of annoyance throughout our entire time there, it was almost borderline rudeness. We were not served water until we explicitly asked for it and we waited a long time before he took our orders. We then subsequently waited another 40 minutes before our food was actually served...but the restaurant was only at approximately 20% capacity, so we really didn’t understand the delay. When the food actually came, many parts of it were badly burnt, causing us to throw a lot of it out. Many times, the server would refill other table’s water glasses and skip over our table. At the end of our dinner, we went to pay but their machine was malfunctioning, so I had redo the transaction. The employee at the cash register displayed great impatience with us, he left us to fend for ourselves and kept on asking us if it went through. In the end, he threw the receipt at us. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience and the food was not of quality. We will not be going back to the Taj Mahal of the Glebe and we do not recommend this restaurant to customers in seek of a great...
Read moreNot a good experience for my family’s first and most likely LAST visit. I cannot understand it when patrons condone poor attitude of the service staff at Michelin-rated restaurants, let alone places like this. Two serving staff attended to us. Initially, both displayed poor attitude, but one (he had more hair than the other) improved his demeanor as the night went on, mainly I think because he caught the less-than-happy tone our group had. The other continued his surly sullen style as if we owed him a favor for allowing us to eat at their establishment. At one point, he actually and rudely, grabbed the debit card out of my wife’s hand when we were paying! I’m proud of our three adult sons who showed remarkable civility and composure in the face of such boorishness. I’m the last to play the “R” card, but it didn’t escape our attention that he was rather pleasant with the other patrons in the restaurant at that time. We, as a family, are civil in our manner all times, and couldn’t understand this guy’s poor attitude. The food was ok and would pass muster at an average level northern Indian cuisine. That’s the only reason for the second...
Read moreMy wife and I were on a date night last Thursday Nov 3, 2022 and decided to walk in to this place without reservations. Most tables were reserved but they had no problem finding us a spot as it was still early (17:50) and empty. I ordered lamb chops and my wife ordered lamb buryani and we waited. At 18:30 the place was almost full, many tables were eating and we still had nothing. My wife asked why it was taking so long and we were given an answer neither of us understood. Five minutes later a waiter came by and told us there was no lamb left for the buryani and would we want lamb and curry instead. We agreed and continued to watch others get their food even though they arrived much later than us. Another 5 minutes passed and the waiter returned again and said there is no lamb left for curry either. I asked for another order of lamb chops and they said ok. By 18:45 we still had not received any food at all and so we left money on the table to cover some juice we were able to get (THEY HAD NO MANGO LASSI!!!) and walked out without them trying in anyway to stop us or appoligize. This was my worst experience dinning in Ottawa...
