This Shawarma place is right in my building and my wife and I have eaten here a few times. I feel bad leaving a mediocre review because I know this is a small, family run restaurant. I just feel that the quality of their food and menu choices are not what they used to be. When we tried their food the first few times it was great. My wife really liked their falafel sandwich (they have really nice bread for their sandwiches). They also used to offer beef and chicken hamburgers. I would sometimes get their beef burger with a side of poutine which was actually quite tasty (their poutine had real cheese curds and nice gravy) The prices were not unreasonable compared to other restaurants. I also remember the guy who used to work the counter was quite a good guy and really knew what he was doing.
Imagine how sad I was when they removed the burgers from their menu. There's was much better than the one's being offered by Kouzina pizza on the other side of the building. They still offer poutine, but the last couple of times we ordered it, they used shredded cheese and only a little gravy (my wife loves poutine, she was disappointed). The fries were nice but as a poutine it just wasn't very good. On our last visit I ordered a beef sandwich. The beef was very dry, like it had been on the spit for too long. And now there are always different people behind the counter who don't seem as attentive to the customers. It's disappointing since the food and service used to be so good here. Unless it improves, I don't think I would...
Read moreI found this place by accident and to my surprising delight it turned out to be one of the best food experiences I’ve had the privilege of experiencing in Ottawa. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with sincerity and warmth from all the workers, especially Sarah who was so kind to our group. The service was impeccable, the food even more so. We ordered the shared saj chicken platter, salads (tabouleh and fattoush), falafel, fries and hummus all of which were refreshing and incredibly rich in flavour. I must pay hommage to the homemade sauce that accompanies the fries, I have no idea what it was except that it was incredible. And the homemade garlic was inch perfect and not overwhelming like most Arabic restaurants have the mistake of doing. I will be coming back as much as I can. This is the pinnacle of Lebanese cuisine in Ottawa. This hidden gem nailed everything, from the service to the food. I’m afraid they raised the bar so high I won’t be able to enjoy other Lebanese restaurants in Ottawa without comparing them to K&W. Thank you to the workers, and you’ve gained a new loyal customer. PS: Please add some labneh...
Read moreI discovered this place about 5 months and absolutely loved it because it reminded me of authentic and delicate shawarma how it’s made back home. Their portions were generous. Sadly, I ordered from them again last night and it seems they’ve taken a downhill turn as their platter for 4 people doesn’t include a salad anymore (even though the ubereats picture still shows as such). I didn’t mind this that much, but as soon as I tasted the shawarma sandwich, I was absolutely grossed out. The chicken was dry and tasted old, and there were weird chunks. I couldn’t eat more than two pieces and threw out the rest. The fries were also undercooked and bland whereas before they used to be crispy and fresh. I had an upset stomach all night long into the next morning as well. Good thing I didn’t eat more as otherwise I might have gotten food poisoned.
I am honestly disappointed and am writing this to bring to the management’s attention since I was so happy to have found a gem but sadly it didn’t last… I hope the quality will go back to how it used to be but sadly, I will not be ordering from there again to find out if...
