I just left with my husband. It was a bad experience. He ordered the Smokey burger and got sweet potatoes as well as a beer and I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. 1st the beer came and had 3 fruit flies ontop of the beer. 2nd my husband's meal I watched go outside then come back inside go back into the kitchen to then come back out to Him. I was shocked at the size of his meal and the sweet potato fries portion. He got the size of a kids fries at McDonald's (small handful) and charged an additional $3. The fries were also soggy, not crispy. I mentioned this to the server. We waited 5 minutes and my meal hadn't arrived. My husband waited to eat until my meal arrived. So by the time he ate his, his had cooled off. When I asked about it, the server who said she was called in, said it was taking longer. I respectful expressed that they needed to bring them together. When my meal finally arrived the sandwich looked like it was slapped together. The chicken was dry and overall lacked any flavour. I didn't taste any spiciness either. As I shared with the server the food lacked restaurant / pub quality. The fries were hot I can say that was positive. I hate to say this but this was very subpar. My husband wanted to take us for some good food and instead he was eating and I was left to wait. I called the server over and politely asked for her to remove it from our bill. She said she would try to do that. My husband and I looked at one another. Um... your cooks failed to provide a quality product. As a result I wasn't eating it nor should we be asked to pay for it. The bill in the end was appox 33.90 for my husband to have a fruit fly beer, a burger, and a kids sized portion of sweet potatoes while he watched me,his wife sit mealless. Very unsaisfactory experience for our night out. We also watched tables around us, and witnessed that meals weren't coming out together for those sitting together. Therefore, this isn't a one off experience. For example, The table beside us, the one woman got her poutine and was pretty much done it by the time another person at her table got her meal later. Finally, I said to my husband went can cook better than this. That isn't supposed to be ths case when going put to eat. No manager came to...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend went out for a dinner night together. The service was bad, there was 4 tables in the restaurant at the time and it still took the waitress forever to serve us. We asked for waters before ordering and 8 minutes later she came back to take our order and had no waters for us. After ordering it took about 40mins to get our food, now I know that sometimes it takes awhile to get food but with only 4 other tables in the restaurant, that seemed ridiculous. The burger tasted pretty good but was disappointed to learn that it didn't come with fries, the nachos were abysmal with crappy Caso spread all over it and about 1/16th of the nachos have semi melted cheese. I could see the other tables struggling waiting for there food too. Now I think this place has potential and could get a lot better, or maybe I just drew the short straw and had that one shitty experience out of the 100 good ones. None the less the vibes were good but the food and service...

I came back a couple weeks later to see how they'd gotten their sea legs, and service was MUCH faster, the menu was MUCH more fleshed out, and the atmosphere was great!
My only issue, and my friends had the same issue, was the serving sizes still left quite a bit to be desired. I ordered 2 pounds of wings, and got 6 of each flavor (12 wings total) for nearly 30 bucks after tax and tip. I was pretty disappointed.
12 wings?! :(
Is it a deal breaker? No. But good wings at a good price are hard to find in Sandy Hill, and if they could get that sorted my friends and I would definitely make The Nelson our local spot!
Looking forward to checking out Trivia in...
