ThimbleCakes- Cupcakes, Cakes and Icecream — Restaurant in Ottawa

I've been a loyal customer of Thimblecakes for close to a decade. They have delicious cupcakes, cakes, and desserts to fit a wide range of diets (e.g. nutfree, gluten-free, vegan).

However, I can only rate them 3 stars because of persistent poor customer service and lack of attention to detail. For example, in the image below, I ordered 24 mini cupcakes in 6 different flavours. It would have been nice if each row of 4 were a different flavour (4 rows x 6 flavours). This was a gift and presentation is important! Instead, they jumbled the cupcakes randomly. It's small things like these over the years that make me hesitant to buy Thimblecakes as a gift.

I ordered a cake for my birthday, March 8th. Shortly after placing the order, I had a missed call from them. I called back within 2 minutes and was just told "my manager was just calling to confirm your order." Okay?

On March 7th, I received a phone call saying "We are closing in 15 minutes. Are you coming to pick up your cake?" I said no, I ordered it for March 8th. I was told that they were closed March 8th and that there was a note that a March 7th pickup was fine with me. Such a conversation never happened.

I had to drop what I was doing and hop in an Uber to be there on time. What should have been a $27 cake cost me $52. Speaking to the lack of attention to detail, the box was stained from something that was not my cake.

In short, if you're on Bank and looking for a yummy dessert, this is a great place! But if you are shopping for a gift, special occasion, or if presentation is important to you, try Little Jo...

Lovely customer care. Elegant patisserie with such a calm and inviting atmosphere. Every talented pastry chef here is genuinely friendly. Cake creation and decorating skills are off the charts!!! Now let’s get to the flavours and freshness - simply outstanding. Delicious, personalized, fresh, artistic, beautiful and reasonably priced for the high quality of their cakes, desserts, and ice creams. My daughter’s sweet 16 cake was trusted to these incredible ladies, and I had tears when I saw the cake they created for her. The cupcakes were so delicious and unique. The mini cupcakes were absolutely adorable and irresistible !!! From the moment I called to when I walked in to pick up my orders, I felt that my wishes were so very important to them. Unfortunately another example that "Vegan" doesn't mean healthy or ethical and that some companies use this vegan "trend" to sale and not on principle (even if they say so, see below). Place looked nice, went in to get something for my GF, asked for their ingredient list and notice the low quality ingredients including PALM OIL in pretty much everything. Also, I was very disappointed when I read the below (see below) statement on their website... Says a lot about a company. I would strongly suggest going somewhere else and asking for the ingredients to really know what you're buying and encouraging!
