WARD 14 — Restaurant in Ottawa

In three words, Ward 14 is ‘comfortable’, ‘cozy’, and ‘cool’.

A great spot to take your date for after dinner drinks, or if you just want to chat with someone over drinks. This is probably the best date spot in the city if you suck at conversation because there are conversation starters all around you.

For a small place their beer selection is solid. Up until recently they made their own beer and sold it in stubby bottles for cheap. I hear that may be coming back(?)

The selection of stuff around the place is always interesting. I appreciate how they keep it pretty fresh. So it’s worth going regularly to see what’s there.

If you’re a tourist, it is a safe, welcoming place to go. Patrons are almost entirely locals who are cool. Ward is not wheelchair accessible (small steps out front). The washrooms are clean and have cool wallpaper (flamingos and old bingo cards).

The cons (because no place is perfect) if you are part of a group of 4 or larger, the seating is very limited. They’re clearly looking to fill the place with groups of 2-3 people hanging out or people on dates.

the tater tot poutine is not a poutine; they used shredded cheese on it 😑 this is Ottawa you can’t call something a “poutine” if it doesn’t have cheese...

Ward 14 is such a hidden gem in Little Italy. It’s one of those places you visit once and immediately want to come back. The cocktails are consistently well-made, delicious, and reasonably priced, which is so refreshing to see. We always go for the shot and lager deal, which is such a fun option and keeps things casual and affordable.

The food menu is simple, but every item we’ve tried has been absolutely delicious—no frills, just really solid, well-executed bar food that hits the spot.

The atmosphere is fantastic, with such a cool, laid-back vibe. I’ve been at different times of day—afternoons, evenings—and it’s always a great experience. Whether you’re popping in for a quick drink or settling in for a longer hangout, the energy is always on point.

The staff here are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and their great attitude makes you want to stick around for “just one more.”

Great place for delicious cocktails, beer and a fun, laid back atmosphere any day of the week! We have gone to Ward 14 more than a few times and we have never been disappointed with seating inside or out, the service or the refreshments. Recently, we brought some out of town colleagues on a busy Friday night and they were extremely enamoured by the whole experience. We meant to go for one round of cocktails after dinner and ended up staying for the rest of the evening because they were having such a great time.

We haven’t had the opportunity to attend the Trivia nights but we are anxious to finally get in for one as we have heard they are super fun!!
