Kelseys Original Roadhouse — Restaurant in Owen Sound

This place is managed by the worst management team I have ever come across. We had a party of 5 adults, on Sat at apprx 7 pm, upon walking in a person walking out said i hope you can wait for an hr cause you will be here for awhile. We just smiled and nodded. We were seated right away, then a very nice waitress came over took our drink order. She returned with our drinks and then took our meal order. After about 15 min or so the men were waiting for our waitress to come around we asked 3 different people if we could order another drink told our waitress would be with us shortly after another 15 min or so we asked the bartender she told us we needed to wait then after 5 more min the bartender came and took our drink order . We then waited for our meal which seemed like forever, finally intotal appr 1hr and 10 min our food came. My husband had ribs / wing w/fries, fries were still frozen and meat was cold, I had chicken fried chicken same thing cold and the gravey on the chicken had that skim on it like it was sitting under heat lamp for a very long time couldn't speak for anyone else but I'm assuming their meals were the same as no one ate a thing.The waitress was very apologetic and ended up not charging us for the food we did however pay for our drinks and left the waitress a tip. Kelseys in Owen Sound needs to have a management over haul. Never again sucks big time.. We all are from Port Colborne On area. If the lady who's advice we didn't except is reading this. I thought I would give this place another try after poor service at lunch the week before when the service took so long I was late for an appointment. Yesterday, my husband and I went to Kelseys at 4:00 pm for an early dinner after a movie. That was clearly a mistake. We had to wait at the door to catch someone's eye to seat us. It was another long wait for a server and menus to arrive, although the place was nearly empty at this time. Our waitress finally arrived and briskly took our order. The food was fine and did arrive promptly. That was the last we saw of the waitress as she spent most of her time at the bar chatting with a customer there. We finally had to signal her across the room to get our bill. When she brought it, I mentioned that we had both a CAA card which gives you a discount and a SCENE card that gives you points, something we weren't even aware of until we looked at the card advertising it on the table. She told us it was "too late" even though we hadn't yet paid. I couldn't believe her attitude when we asked her to redo the bill. I thought at first she was going to refuse to do it, then she actually Hurrumphed at us like we were wasting her time. If only she had come by to see if we were ready for the bill first... We left to have our coffee and dessert at Kettles where the service was excellent and we felt welcome even though the place was packed. My husband and I were there yesterday. We had chicken ceasar salad, messy fish sandwich, pepsi and small nachos. It's sad to say that the lettuce was old and limpy and had too much dressing. The pepsi was flat, although they gave us a new glass of pepsi, it was not as good. The sandwich was good but after several minutes, my husband had diarrhea. I remember this restaurant used to have very fresh and good food. I know that the pandemic messed up a lot of businesses. I hope they will improve their service. *Update, Nov. 6, 2021. Their guest experience staff contacted me the following day. They wanted to correct and apologized for the experience we just had in one of their locations. They were very nice to deal with and informed us that they immediately corrected the flaw in that location. For this reason, I'm also updating my rating. Update, Dec. 21, 2021 My husband and I went back to Kelsey's in the same location. I informed the front reception that we should have a gift voucher and that she will ask the manager about it. We were seated and ordered the same items as the last one. It was perfectly cooked and presented. The fish was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Nachos was warm, crispy and sooo good. The chicken ceasar salad was perfect! Love the grilled chicken, so tasty. The salad was fresh and crisp. The dressing is just the right amount. The food arrived quick and servers were friendly.
