⚠️ Community Awareness – Event Planning at Yang’s Finest Kitchen, Penetanguishene ⚠️
Just a heads-up to anyone planning to host an event at Yang’s Finest Kitchen. Our experience there was extremely disappointing.
✔️ The food was great and reasonably priced. ❌ BUT the customer service/ etiquette was terrible.
We had a very disappointing experience planning an event at Yang’s Finest Kitchen in Penetanguishene. The food was good and reasonably priced, but the customer service was terrible.
Staff were consistently rude and unprofessional. Even after we almost fully paid before the event, they dismissed us when we visited, saying they were busy with other customers. Communication was poor both in person and over the phone.
We were aggressively pressured to give high tips and made to feel uncomfortable, with comments like: “I need a tip, don’t give me the lowest, you have to give me,” and they demanded cash tips or else we wouldn’t get discounts or even water service. No official receipts were provided.
They also charged us $1 for each takeout container for leftover food and even extra cents for a packet of soy sauce. Everything had a charge, even small items, which was very disappointing and felt like they were taking advantage.
Despite nearly booking the entire place, we weren’t allowed to freely decorate or set up tables without strict time limits and attitude from the staff. While our guests were still there, they started clearing tables and cleaning up, making us feel rushed out.
I am sharing this to help others make informed decisions. Good food is not enough—respectful service matters.
We support local businesses, but good service and basic respect should always come with good food. Please consider this experience when choosing a venue for your special events.

Read moreIt was supposed to be my B-day dinner, $170 worth of food. Place the order, asked for delivery, was told it’s gonna be 1 hour. All good so far. 1 hour and a half past by and no food on site. I called the restaurant, was told the driver is on his way…almost there. 2 hours past by and the driver calls to let me know it’s gonna take another 15-20 minutes before he gets to my place. Speechless ! When I finally got my food, the driver was so apologetic, he even wanted to pay $40 off his tips. He called the restaurant to see if there is anything they can do for this delayed delivery..but their answer was we’re busy and we have no time. At order time, I wasn’t made aware that they are busier than normal, that the delivery time is longer than anticipated and at least to be given the option for pick up or delivery. If I would’ve picked up the order myself - in 30 min we would’ve had hot dinner, with crispy meat, crispy egg rolls not soggy from the condensation. The driver asked if I got a call from the restaurant….obviously NOT…. Overall…..terrible experience, food is not at the same quality level as it use to be ( when it was Pan Mai), the ribs were very sweet and literally just boiled, the beef vegetable dish wasn’t at the expectation level. So, honestly …..DISAPPOINTED, very disappointed, in the quality of food -(went down), in the service and especially customer service and accountability. Not even an apology call, let alone a discount for the inconvenience. Not gonna use them again, not...
Read moreHad dinner here recently. Their food is excellent…very fresh, tasty and plentiful! Their wonton soup is the best around! The wontons are homemade and the noodle wraps are so light and lovely with meaty, juicy filling. Thai Mango Chicken was so good, as was the Triple Delight dishes. Special Yen Chow Fried Rice was also good. The service here is friendly and gracious.
HOWEVER, I don’t understand why you can’t get Chinese hot tea here! It’s the only beverage I drink with Asian food. Knowing this from our last dine in dinner there, I brought our thermos bottles with oolong tea. No coffee or any desserts either. Just pop, juice and water available! For a dine in restaurant, these items should be included.
And we were shocked that we were charged for the 2 takeout containers we needed for our leftovers!!! 30 cents per container! Really…that’s pretty shabby. I hope the owner can make a change to this….never ever before have we been charged anywhere for containers for take home leftovers! If not, we will add our own containers to our own tea brought in if we go...
