First time trying Chaska out, good to see a halal place in Peterborough and we haveto say we were pleasantly surprised. Most Indian franchises dull down the authenticity and flavors, but every item we ordered tasted better than traditional home made, we ordered the Phav Bhaji, Bhel Chaat, Lamb Khati Roll, Chicken Khati Roll, Lamb Rice Bowl, Brownie Samosa and the Chai and Royal Milkshakes. Spice level was just right, had a good kick for our indian palettes, flavors were on point, huge portion for the price, fresh - literally made infront of you, and quality of the fresh ingredients were amazing. The milkshakes were Creamy and Super Rich, we felt the Brownie Samosa were a bit heavy on the cardamom but perfectly made none the less and a fun twist on brownies. This place is staying true to its roots. The stars of this place were the staff though. Sarab and Sumi were hustling and running around cooking for dine ins, takeouts and still had smiles on their faces while asking each customer how they liked the food even with it being a busy night. We loved it so much we even got more food to take home. Owner please take note of these two superstars, it's tough to find dedicated staff these days who can keep the quality of the food high while cooking, making sure the food looks great with garnishes, taking orders and interacting with patrons like these two did. Great food, great staff, 5/5 Would gladly drive the two hours again for another meal.

UPDATE : They’ve made everything working as I visited again. Thank you for listening your customers Recently, I visited Peterborough and was in the mood for Indian street food. I came across Chaska and decided to give it a try. I ordered Vada Pav, Chai, and Samosa Chaat—honestly, the food was amazing and tasted just as expected. However, what really stood out was the lack of proper ventilation inside the restaurant. Despite being in a beautiful location, the place was extremely hot and uncomfortable. It was genuinely hard to sit and enjoy the food, and I could barely stay inside for more than 2-3 minutes. That said, I truly appreciate the staff’s excellent service and positive attitude. Even in such hot conditions, they were very cooperative and served us well. I really respect their effort. My honest suggestion to the management: Please work on improving the ventilation and comfort of the dining space. The food and service are fantastic, but the restaurant’s condition needs serious attention. Especially as someone who travelled all the way from Scarborough, it was disappointing to face this issue. I hope this gets resolved soon because I would love to return for your great food. Thank you!

I had the unfortunate experience of trying the samosas from this restaurant, and I genuinely regret it. The outer layer was neither crispy nor flaky—just a sad, soggy mess that tasted like it had been microwaved instead of fried. The filling was an even bigger disaster—bland, dry, and somehow both overcooked and under-seasoned at the same time. It felt like someone just mashed up old potatoes and dumped them inside without a single spice in sight. To make things worse, the oil they used must have been sitting in their fryer for weeks because every bite carried an unpleasant, rancid aftertaste. And don’t even get me started on the dipping sauce—it was watered-down and flavorless, as if they ran out of ingredients and just gave up. Overall, these samosas were an insult to Indian cuisine. If you’re looking for disappointment wrapped in a greasy, flavorless shell, go ahead and order them. Otherwise, save your money and your taste buds.

Wow! Where do I begin?

I would like to share that me as a food enthusiast, yesterday i was able to have my lunch from this Restaurant known as"CHASKA"in Peterborough, where i was able to feel my home back country Indian taste. And in this way, for my lunch i ordered a food item known as "samoosa chaat " and "Butter chicken big bowl " from this Shop which was "Awesome". And after having my food I was able to know that my food was served and prepared by a mam known as BINDHU, who provides the real taste of Indian food to every customers through her service.

Inaddition, I was also able to meet a Person known as AKASH from Chaska, who is so good at welcoming and explainning the tastness and different flavours of Indian Foods like A to Z, which was so helpfull for me as a Customer on that day. Thanks a Lot.

Moreover, I would like to share that through all the services which i got yesterday i was able to understand that with how much dedication and with great quality is that MAM and SIR and CHASKA Team provided my food on yesterday and also to every customers who comes to CHASKA Restaurent.

And i think that, in case of the availabilty of Indian Food by living in Canada, I felt like i am still in the Food streets of My Home back Country "INDIA ". And all thanks to CHASKA TEAM.

And I am so proud and happy to have an indian Restaurent like" CHASKA" in...

I have had good samosas from this place before and took a friend to eat there.

As soon as we got in the door, they informed us that the payment device was not working, and we would have to order online although we were eating in. No problem.

I placed an order for samosas for my friend and a samosa chat (a dish with samosa, chickpea curry and yogurt) for myself. After placing the order, I let the server know and she looked up the order.

Looking at the order, she told me that there was no chickpea curry (Channa), and I should order poutine instead. I didn’t go to an Indian place for poutine, so I said that I could order something else instead, to which she suggested another dish - that was also supposed to have chickpea curry… I said that and she said it was fine.

Why on earth she couldn’t have told me all of this BEFORE I placed an online order and was stuck there, was a mystery. I mean - also, it is a staple part of many of the dishes - and why can’t you just make more anyway? Surely you knew you would run out?! I worked in an Indian restaurant for years - that just wouldn’t happen - it was barely noon… Anyway, my dish came, and was absolutely horrible - the Papri chat - the chunks of whatever it was were still half frozen - grainy like they hadn’t been reheated from frozen, and it was horrendous.

Bad service, bad food, and ridiculous organization. Never going...
