Kelseys Original Roadhouse — Restaurant in Peterborough

UPDATE: Love their burgers at Kelsey's but I tried the gluten-free bun with my burger today for the first time and it was horrible! I didn't even want to pay $15 for it. The bun just disintegrated and crumbled as I was eating it so that the whole burger fell apart in my hands. I wish I had thought to take a photo to post here to show how bad it was. It also tasted like the oldest, stalest bread ever! I buy gluten-free bread and buns at home and it doesn't crumble into pieces so I know it's just the type/brand of bun used from Ace Bakery. But on the plus side, we had a fabulous waitress who served us around 1pm today. She went above and beyond to serve us efficiently, answer all of our menu/nutrition related questions, helped saved us money and expedited our order and payment so that we could eat and leave quickly to get to an appt. She made it such an enjoyable experience! I didn't catch her name but we sat towards the back of the restaurant in front of the party room and across from the kitchen by the windows (in front of the computer). She was tall, dirty blonde hair, ponytail and very friendly, smiley and perky. She was a delight and provided superior customer service! One other small thing that I don't like in the washrooms is that the toilets are still super low and haven't been replaced to new, higher toilets. Also, the new taps that were installed with the renovation look super nice and trendy but they're so unhygienic because you have to touch the taps to turn them off after you've already washed your hands. Automatic taps are way better in public restrooms for sanitary reasons. I also found the taps frustrating to know which way to turn them on and off and the water sprays out fast if you turn them too far and can easily splash your clothes. Not the best faucet choice, that's for sure! Seems like they opted for style and appearance over functionality, user-friendliness and sanitary needs.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Kelsey's is so disappointing now! It used to be my favourite restaurants but ever since they rebranded to the Roadhouse, it's gone downhill. They changed their menu and decor, but not for the better in my opinion. The prices have gone up a lot and the portion sizes are really small now. They also got rid of a lot of my favourite menu items or changed them so that they aren't as good anymore. And the decor has changed the feel of the restaurant so that it's not comfortable and cozy anymore. I wish they'd bring the old...

It was my youngest daughter 3rd birthday on October 09th,2023 Monday . We went for family (4) dinner to that location at 6:15 . The server (JP) John paul was so rude from the beginning of his service even though we mentioned about our daughter birthday. Appetizer and my oldest daughter food and the drinks was on time. Between he never came to us ask if we need anything or if everything is good or not. The main course came and we was looking someone can take our family picture before we start the food . 10 minutes waiting, calling to anyone just for attention to take a picture, I was stood beside my table, 2 girls server was passing by my table even though never ask if we need anything. After 12 minutes of waiting our server (JP) John paul came and we request him if he can take our picture. He asked us for rush coz he was doing closing duties of the restaurant even though the time was only 7:15 pm and the restaurant will close 9pm. He through the mobile on our table and refused to serve us. I feel sooo disappointed and embarrassed front of my family and it’s a special occasion. Upon called the manager ( MATT) explained the situation he apologized and offered our bill to be removed. After the behaviour and attitude from the server I didn’t feel to finish my dinner in that place anymore. I asked the manager to pay full amount of my bill but he refused. Just to mention I worked for Montanas cook house (Richmond Hill) location 9 years as a kitchen manager never saw any server did it with any guests. Even little arguments with the guests that server would “FIRE” right away. I live In Peterborough. I will never visit again to this location and I will recommand to my friends and family NOT to visit this place. I strongly recommend that server DOES NOT QUALIFY to work that location. He was sooo rude and was doing RECISM with us. We really feel uncomfortable not to be stay there, For the service if I could rate “0” definitely I would do it....

The experience May 11, 2019, was awful. Where to begin...dirty/missing utensils, VERY poor service and less then impressive food. Dirty utensils- two separate knifes had "caked" on food that had to be scrapped off with your nail. 3 of the 5 people sitting with me did not even have utensils. The service was awful to say the least. No interaction from the staff. Barley spoke when taking our order-no personality at all. Not to mention the staff made ZERO effort to up-sell, and seemed annoyed when questions relating to the menu were asked. The wait for the food to arrive was horrific, approximately 35 minutes just for it to get to our table half our group was served and finished eating before the other half even received food. The food was HIGHLY overpriced for the actual product received. I do not mind paying, however I do expect a QUALITY, well portioned, HOT product. Several-and I do mean several- different menu items were ordered, and you would be hard pressed to find anything positive to say about ANY of the dishes. The soda pop was flat with little or no carbonation. The drinks ordered from the bar were very inconsistent- the quality was not bad, however 4 of the same drinks were ordered-they all came in various sizes of glasses-none of which were equal in volume -but the price was the same (hard to justify that) Colour of the drinks was even different-no consistence. Its is hard to justify, (believe me I have tried) the issues as the reservations were made over 2 months ago, so they knew we were coming, not prepared Will definitely think twice about choosing Kelsey's...
