October 3, 2023 šš½šš½šš½šš½šš½ I had a really bad experience at this location, and I wish I could give it zero stars āļø in my review. We're regular customers at the Pickering location on Kingston Road, and our visits there have always been great. However, we decided to try this location, and it was a completely different story.
Our troubles started when we placed our orders. The person taking our order seemed unfamiliar with the menu, mumbled quietly, and spoke under his breath, making it difficult to understand him. He also struggled to navigate the menu options and had trouble entering our choices into the system. I ordered a regular Chicken Schwarma Rice Bowl with five toppings, but unfortunately, my order arrived missing two of those toppings. My partner ordered a Regular Jamaican Jerk Rice Bowl but received a regular chicken bowl instead. Both of our bowls contained excessively salty turnips, and the rice was dry. To make matters worse, the chicken had a reheated taste, as if it had been sitting around for a while.
Before leaving, I asked for the receipt as I didn't get one when paying. The employee initially handed me an order slip retrieved from the garbage, which clearly wasn't a proper receipt. This was the slip they followed to prepare the dish, and it lacked the price and other details. After requesting a proper receipt, I received one but didn't notice that it was the wrong one. At that point, I was disgusted (for being handed the orders slip from the garbage) and frustrated, I just wanted to get out of there before I lost my cool.
I believe an establishment should provide a proper receipt to a customer, especially when it is requested. Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing, and I have no intention of returning to this location. It fell far short of our basic expectations for service and quality.
I will be contacting your head office as this is beyond poor service...

We arrived at the restaurant and the restaurant is definitely nice warm decor and lots of bright signage promoting their specials. There are bright LED screens for the menus. The staff took my order and she seemed to struggle with punching in my order using the coupon. I asked for one beef gyro and chicken shawarma wrap. You can pay cash, credit, or debit. She didn't give me my receipt but took my name for the order. The wraps were prepared first and then we had to wait for fresh batch of fries. The lady brought our fries in small paper bags. We asked for a bag to carry out our order she told us to take a bag. She forgot to give us our wraps so I had to remind her it's sitting on the counter. The gyro was good but too much hot sauce. I actually ordered no heat on the gyro and medium heat on the chicken shawarma. They may have mixed up the order because the chicken was mild. Accuracy of order is important and there's room for improvement here.
The chicken shawarma wrap you can get original, old school, or authentic. I went with old school toppings. The flavour of the chicken was lacking and the ratio of chicken to veggies was 30:70. The french fries are most likely from Costco. It has the same crispy texture.
Overall, the wraps were ok but they need to work on the flavour profiles and meat to veggies ratio. The service has room f9t improvement. P.S. the client shouldn't have to bag their own food.

My concern is not about the timing of my call but about the lack of transparency. As a customer, I believe itās reasonable to expect clear communication, especially when changes affect portion sizes and pricing. I was charged for a large combo, but received what looked like a medium ā without any prior notice. This feels misleading and unfair.
Additionally, I was told by a member of the management team that different staff (morning vs. evening) may have different practices, and that I could choose to shop elsewhere if I wasnāt satisfied. I found this response to be dismissive and unprofessional.
I hope this message encourages your team to review communication practices with customers, especially when changes are made to products or pricing. Clear, respectful communication goes a long way in building trust...
