Jansen was great, provided attentive service. Second location I've tried. The food is relatively inexpensive but it could be so much better... In a word it's bland / muted.
It seems to be envisioned by someone who doesn't enjoy flavor? Or seasoning. This might be you? No offense intended. My mom liked things with no pepper or spice. It is a more affordable option than higher end breakfast places, but just didn't hit the mark for me. Let me explain...
The home fries are bland. So bland. Pasty. They are the kind of thing that comes frozen and goes in the oven. But they aren't crisp or hot. There's no added seasoning I could detect and they are mushy inside. I've tried adding the "upgrade" to add fried onions or "spicy" - but those upgrades aren't stirred in & pan fried - they are spooned on top like a garnish. And the "spicy" is more of a Pico de Gallo - so basically bell peppers and onions together. And it was cold on top of warm fries. Even the cheese wasn't melted on the omelettes. Maybe that's a choice? But I consider it wrong.
The Mexican omelette suffers from the same fate. Unless you pay extra for Jalapeños there's nothing spicy in it. And I think the Jalapeños they did have were pickled.
The fancy pancakes do look very sweet, but they were out of waffles. How can a breakfast place be out of waffles? Make more? To me that suggests the waffles might be frozen too. I don't know.
It does have a place. If you like bland food, maybe are feeding kids or maybe your folks and on a budget, it's an option? But other breakfast places (even chains like this one IHOP or Denny's spring to mind) can deliver a range of spice and flavor. Potatoes are crispy and hot.
A Mexican omelette needs to include jalapenos. Not bell peppers.
Even the bread options were disappointing. For French toast I'd use brioche. Or sourdough. They have white bread...
Read moreToday is our last time we will be dining here. With an extremely underwhelming service experience from start to finish, to unwanted HAIR served in our 2-year old’s meal…safe to say we are done with Stacked Pitt Meadows.
We have dined here 4 times now, each time giving the benefit of doubt and hoping for an increased level of service, but no such luck.
To start it off today, we were pretty rudely denied a specific open table that we preferred and requested. Then to be served hair in our daughter’s food, with not much sincere apology. We asked the plate to be re-made and are quite certain the pancake was reheated and re-plated because the bottom was crunchy and the top was all mushy with melted icing and whipped cream. We were rudely told that it melted because the food was hot. (Photo from before the plate was ‘re-made’)
We asked for an extra side plate, and were given a dirty one with a fingerprint of what looked like ketchup or hot sauce smeared on the edge. And again, no apology or remorse.
Our server was kind and apologetic, although these issues were no fault of his, but truly the only person today that seemed to have any understanding of this unacceptable situation. Having said that, most restaurants would offer to comp an unsatisfactory plate, or at minimum offer something to show care, but we were promptly charged full price, paid the bill and left.
This is a restaurant where food safety standards should be a top priority, and customer satisfaction second priority. Neither of those were met today and we will not...
Read moreMy husband and I who are seniors decided to try Stacked, new to our area. When we arrived we were directed to a tiny" booth" for 2. The restaurant was almost empty, so I asked if we could have a larger booth. I was told they seat in sections. We were then taken to the largest booth in the place at the front of the restaurant. Two men were seated at a table very close beside us. The music was blaring from the speaker right over our heads. The man joked maybe we should ask to lower the volume. I told him it was many years since we listened to and enjoyed music at that volume. I asked to be moved . They seated us at the very back of the restaurant directly under another speaker. I complained and was told again that they seat in sections. They moved us again across the aisle away from the speaker which was fine. To their credit they did lower the speaker volume after that. The food arrived it looked terrific. The sausages and ham were hot. The pancakes and eggs were at best Luke warm and the hashbrowns cold and tasteless. When the server came back and asked if my husband wanted a refill he said yes and she asked how everything was. I told her the food was cold. She apologized and said she will bring the coffee. The coffee pot was brought to the table by 2 servers. Not sure what that was about. I found it disquieting. We will...
