Archie's Subs and Eatery — Restaurant in Port Colborne

The food here is terrible. I bought a poutine here a few days ago and what I got was the sorriest excuse for a poutine ever. first of all the fries aren't even fresh cut, they are mccain fries. Frozen fries from a bag. the cheese kurds are the cheap black diamond brick cheese and the gravy is some nasty slimy textured gruel . Its disgusting. another thing i wanna point out is that they heat up all the food in their 3 microwaves. now my friends go ga-ga for Archies. they seem to have alot of business. now what I dont understand is that with all the money coming in to the "successful business" they still have microwaves. honestly I think microwaves are just unprofessional. who out of their right mind wants to go to a restaurant and eat something that was heated up not in a an oven or toaster oven but a microwave. real unprofessional. their subs aren''t that good either. nothing is really that good. you want a decent poutine go to dawgs, or minor fisheries and if you want a sub go to subway that is down the street. you think that family restaurants would be authentic but Archies is just insulting. dont listen to the other reviews, they only like archies because its a business that was here for years and they wanna be proud about the long businesses that Port Colborne...

Ordered a torpedo at 2:50 was told it would be 20 min. Arrived to find a locked front door with the OPEN sign flashing. Confused as to what was happening I looked through the front window to see the back door open and an employee standing in it. I waved to get their attention and, to my surprise, got a wave back, clearly they had seen me yet no effort was made to open up. I was joined by another customer who decided to walk around back and see what was happening. He returned saying they were on a break, there weren’t enough staff to run the restaurant. Still confused as to what was happening since I’d just placed my order and could see it sitting on the shelf I drove around back to find 4 employees standing there. I asked if they were open, at which point the line cook told me they were on a 30 min lunch. No sign in the window stating that, OPEN sign still flashing away. I told them I had an order waiting and was argued down by two staff there was not. At this point another 20 min had elapsed and I had to leave. What upsets me most isn’t the dismissive attitude of the staff, it’s that I’ll never go there again. Employees are what make or break a business and I’m afraid the wheels are falling off...

Yesterday for dinner I ordered something new on the menu it was an appi platter. The options were small or large. I got the small, and oh my god it was delicious! And I even had enough left over for lunch! The small came with 2 chicken strips and my choice of 4 different apps! I chose Mac and cheese bites/battered mushrooms/cheese balls and deep fried pickles! The portion size was fantastic! The large one is 4 chicken strips and 6 apps!! I will most definitely order this again. I hope this option stays on the menu permanently as I love having a selection of different things to have at meals :) Archie’s has always been our favourite place to order subs (the torpedo is our go to) but this platter is my new favourite haha.
