A&W Canada — Restaurant in Port Coquitlam

UPDATE: I went back to the Port Coquitlam (Shaughnessy St) location and had the All Canadian Breakfast again. I was very disappointed in the meal and the service.

The sausage and bacon had obviously been precooked. It was all soggy and lukewarm. There was only a speck of butter on each piece of toast. I ordered my coffee as double/double but there was hardly any milk or sugar in it and it tasted burnt.

The restaurant was almost empty with only one other table occupied but the employee just set my order down at the front counter and quietly announced it was ready. By taking only a couple of extra steps it could have been brought to my table. She never asked how my meal was as I was eating or when I was leaving. It wasn't worth the money and I won't be back. I had the All Canadian Breakfast this morning and it was so good. It included 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 slices of tomato, one large hashbrown patty and 2 slices of buttered toast. They offered packets of jam, jelly, marmalade or peanut butter for the toast. I also ordered coffee with my breakfast.

Everything was cooked perfectly and the coffee was hot and delicious. The staff were all very friendly and smiled at me several times while I waited. My food and coffee were served to me on a stoneware plate and mug. The restaurant was very clean and tidy but I opted to take my meal outside and eat at the patio table in the sunshine.

With a coupon, I received in the mail, my entire order came to $9.00 which is great value. This meal was one of the best restaurant breakfasts I've ever had and I'll definitely be going back again. Shaughnessy Street is very busy so it's a bonus that this location has ample parking behind the restaurant.

Good food and service. The place was shockingly dirty though. I’m not a clean freak, but the entire floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week. Caked with week old dried lettuce, food debris and the restaurant floor hasn’t been mopped in so long the entire floor looks like it does when the roads have been salted and everyone’s dirty feet drag in de-icer but it’s been sunny all week and no snow for months. The table tops were smudged multiple colours of muck, even the seats were dirty. Both bathrooms have two soap dispensers and all 4 dispensers were empty (sign of how little they are tended to). The bathroom smelt so strongly of stale urine I opted to hold it. Clearly they are lacking a proper cleaning schedule and cheating out on staffing. I changed my order to takeout and ate in my car. Food tasted fresh and service was friendly, clearly newly renovated but yikes, the dirtiest fast food restaurant I’ve ever been in. Need to deep clean it desperately and then need to stay on top of regular cleaning...

My experience at this location was nothing spectacular. Its so heart wrenching when walking thru the doors to ANY business in your hometown and the seating areas are gone, there are no customers to observe as they enjoy a nice cold sip of their A&W Root beer in that classic & signature frosted ice cold mug in between bites of their scrumptious Momma Burger.....However the Manager was fantastically pleasant. Took my order and served me with a great smile.... The one complaint I do have is the fact that they have no ice because why do you need ice when they serve your A&W root beer or soda of your choice they serve it in those iconic chilled mugs. when you're having to take your meal to go your soda is served in one of those awful to-go cups there for your soda is not icy cold.....and on a hot day you want an ice for an...
