I've ordered from Fuji Noodles multiple times before the new owners and was quite impressed with the food quality. I heard they switched owners though so I decided to try/see if they maintained the same dishes and food quality -the menu was more extensive than the one the previous owners provided, but the quality was horrible. We ordered the Peking duck - the duck itself was okay, but the sauces were watery and the crepes were hard. as. rocks. It was like they had left over crepes, put them in the fridge for days/weeks, microwaved them to warm them up, and then sent them along to us. You could throw them and have it seriously maim someone. They also left out half of our two part Peking duck course - the lettuce came, but the stir-fried duck was missing, although to be honest not sure if this was the Uber driver's fault or restaurant's.
We also ordered their house special noodles - noodles were not cooked well and the sauce tasted only of msg. Portion was okay, but if you have heavy eaters you'll probably need 1-2 extra dishes to compensate.
All in all, not impressed with the food quality of the new Fuji...
Read moreI noticed a similar review about how dirty the fish tanks were. So was the entrance. Whomever was in the back in the kitchen sounded like he was getting sick. The person I dealt with was kind but didn't know English so she used her phone to translate to me. I asked why the tanks were dirty & that it sounded like someone was getting sick. She said that they were away in China & just got back & that they would clean the fish tanks tomorrow. She didn't address my other questions. I usually only order soft noodle chicken chowmein there and haven't ordered since last summer. I bought the order even though I felt disgusted & uncomfortable. When I got home I opened the container & they had used broad noodles instead of the regular noodles. There was hardly any chicken. It was greasy but I was starving & took a chance, tried it despite of everything. It was flavorful. Fingers crossed that I don't get...
Read moreInconsistent, not as good now. What happened? Did the chef change? The food was amazing the first couple of times we went - very well executed dishes, layered flavours...
But it has been fairly disappointing the last few times.
Taiwanese chicken bao - Used to be that the bun was soft and delicate, chicken was subtly spicy, crispy but juicy on the inside. Paired with pickled cabbage and lettuce 😘👌. Lately bun is flat, moist and sticky, not much flavour and did not hold up well because of sloppy assembly.
Chow mein noodles. Liked that they separated the sauce so the noodles stayed crispy with take out. The sauce, however, was quite bland and thick.
Crab and fish maw soup: tasteless. Added a lot of red vinegar but still it had no flavour.
Hopefully it will go back to the same level of skill as before. It is a great addition to the neighbourhood and we would love to continue...
