We decided to stop in here based on the name alone and we were not disappointed. The decor is fun, clearly the owners have a sense of humor! The wait staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable, they clearly love working here and it shows. The best part though - the food. Everything was delicious. Everything - right down to the coleslaw! My husband took a bite and said, "I think this is the best coleslaw I've ever had." I enjoyed the butter chicken meal, while my husband had the fish and chips. We finished it off with an amazing dessert - freshly made doughnuts, apples, maple syrup, pecans and bacon! A weirdly amazing combination! The food was delicious and full of passion, it was obvious just by eating it that the chef knew what he was doing and loved doing it! All of the food that was being brought out looked amazing as well, I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu! They make pretty much everything in house as well! The night that we went lasagna was on special and I wish I had tried it! Even the noodles were made in house! I would highly recommend The Thirsty Goose in Port Hope to anyone and everyone! I've been talking it up to everyone I know and I personally can't...
Read moreWent on a Monday afternoon, family of four for lunch. We ordered two burgers and two plates of nachos. The server didn't write our order down and came back once to confirm what we had ordered.
We were sitting close to the kitchen and could see in. The cook staff weren't wearing masks and were seen eating.
The food took a bit to come, about 25 minutes. The nachos were a bit greasy, well topped but still the chips were dripping. One burger was a mushroom burger, that had a very burnt after taste, and the other was a veggie burger that lacked taste all together. We ordered to servings of fries with the burgers, and one came out with a garden salad and fries. They ended up giving us a plate of fries. But the waitress when giving the bill said "I didn't charge you for the extra fries" as if they didn't mess up our order to begin with. The fries were somewhat warm, and underwhelming.
It has a nice bar atmosphere, but doesn't social distance tables, only puts up a plastic sheet between, and doesn't mandate masks, as someone walked in simply pulling their shirt over their mouth and noise.
I wouldn't recommend me this, unless you aren't picky about your food, or...
Read moreI had high hopes of this main street eatery since there aren't a lot of options in the small downtown core. The Thirsty Goose had a nice outdoor area but we chose to eat inside. We sat at the back with views of the kitchen, big mistake. We could see the kitchen staff preparing meals with the older gentleman eating as he cooked. Not sure if it was his own lunch he was nibbling on or if he was tasting the prepared meals? We were seated promptly but waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive while we swatted away flies. However, our waitress didn't write down our order and came back to check to make sure of our orders. Note: the restaurant was not busy. Then, she got our side dishes wrong and offered to give us a plate of fries for the inconvenience. Then when she brought the bill, she notified us that she didn't charge us for the extra fries. We should have had a free entree for our troubles. We had 2 orders of nachos and 2 burger combos. All items were overcooked or burnt. Never again...
