Edit: The owner was very kind and responsive with us and we gave this place another try and had a great experience, thank you for making things right :)
Most foul experience eating out ever. We travelled a long time to get here and came in at around 4:40, ordered, and sat down to eat our food (the food was not very good). Then, we were informed very suddenly that they decided to close at 5 instead of 7! They could have told us when we were looking at the menu outside for a few minutes or when we were ordering, but for some reason they only decided to tell us once our food was already there, less than 10 minutes before 5. Their reasoning was for a “staff party”. Mind you, this was not written anywhere. Not on google, not on maps, not on their website, not outside the door. Sitting there and eating our food was really awkward cause they were closing right in front of us. The employees also kept coming up to us and asking when we would be done and the way they said it was really mean. They could have at least been respectful about it but no. Extremely upsetting experience because of the unpleasant atmosphere; I was shaking because of how uncomfortable and anxious I felt. Will not be...
Read moreI've only been to their Chinatown location prior, but being in the area, the Plant Curious book brought us out here for some savings! Really nice and clean aesthetic in the eatery, with take home and ready to eat products available throughout. The $13 Shawarma Wrap had a good flavour despite the 'protein' being soy curls. The Beet Poke Macro was also a tasty option (couldn't choose between this or their Almond Noodle Salad which I've heard good things about)! The marinated beets and edamame hummus stood out, and the tangy umami of the ginger miso sauce. However, I do feel like the bowl could've had more rice and beets, or any ingredients to make it more filling for the $16 price tag. For the depth of the bowl, it was around halfway filled. I ended up adding more brown rice from home. I also wasn't a fan of all the pickled ginger, so will have to ask for those to be left out next time around!
Kokomo is a great option in this neighbourhood and I'd definitely return for the food. The price point is fair for the...
Read moreMy favourite items at Kokomo are the almond noodle salad, chickpea curry, bean burrito and vanilla soft serve. The golden laksa noodles, hemp caesar salad and coastal macro bowl are also fantastic choices. Some things to be aware of are that the acai is sweetened (I only like unsweetened but it's a matter of personal preference), and on rare occasions, the coconut turmeric broth for the golden laksa noodles is overly spicy (don't be put off from trying it again if this happens).
It's close to the Inlet Centre SkyTrain station and Kokomo has a nice seating area, both inside and out. They also offer delivery of many items through DoorDash and Uber Eats, which is convenient. The employees have always been exceptional, even writing nice messages on the take-out bags. Occasionally they also run promotions, like with Taste of Tri-Cities (BOGO 50%), Uber Eats coupons (BOGO free), the Plant Curious deals book ($10 off $40+) and a morning happy hour (various deals from...
