Mary Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Port Moody

UPDATE July 1/ 2022: Soo happy they are in Port Coquitlam, food, service, location is good- unlike the ATROCIOUS Port Moody location just 15 mins away managed by an even more ATROCIOUS franchisee who is completely unethical and dishonest and did not honor a coupon sent to me from head office to address a previous horrible incident at his Port Moody location. the franchisee of that location should be removed asap! Also witnessed berating staff infront of customers- despicable man- absolutely rude and unethical type. In contrast, the Port Coquitlam location does a way better job in every aspect and also you can park right infront of the restaurant unlike the Port Moody joke location that has a nightmare parking setup that thinks this is Manhattan!! Be warned!

Disappointing! I came during the peak time of the day yet the chicken was DRY and the taters were OVER-seasoned, way too salty. The chicken sandwich we ordered also was below previous expectations. Overall more pricey than other chicken joints. Plus- Church's is much juicier and better value, and Popeyes is far more tasty and fresh. I don't know how Mary Browns will do in this market, where the other fried chicken places already bring their A-game. Also, it was an unprofessional sight to witness- who appeared to be the manager- Middle Eastern guy with glasses- yell at a staff member (with his mask down his face, on top of that). Not the best experience when you see the manager humiliate the staff within sight...

The signature main stay recipes, aka: original or spicy chicken “anything” (sandwitch, tenders, and popcorn) is really good. The chicken sandwitch is made with real chicken which is solid with a nice crunch, yet moist and balanced with simple toppings. However outside the few original menu items, is where the enjoyment ends. We ordered a poutine which is made with potato wedges and a jelly-like beef gravy and cheese curds. These could be called the correct ingredients but it was difficult to get past the ratio mishap. We were told, “the order is 9 potato wedges with a “scoop” of curds and a “portion” of gravy. When the order was up, it was a flooded mess! “Do you want some chips with that order of gravy?” (See photo) We politely made a complaint asking if a few more potato wedges could be added to fix this, but the unconcerned employ had nothing to offer. No added potato wedges, no refund, no care. My advice: if you are still persuaded to order this, ask for the large volume of gravy (which really isn’t very good) On the Side. Following the menu rules was more of a priority than costumer service and satisfaction. This alone has given us reason not to return, especially when there are so many successful fried chicken competitors in our area. I am so sorry Mary (refering to the founder), but you would not be proud of what has happened to your name. This is another example where franchising ends up getting the cash but loses...

Ordered from this place yesterday for the first time and it was very disappointing to say the least, ordered the 9 pce chicken feast, only got 7 pces, the chicken was very bland and dry, the gravy was very salty and cold, the tater wedges must’ve been sitting for a few hours as they were also cold and extremely dry and very bland, we also ordered a big Mary burger with a side of poutine, didn’t receive either of those 2 items either! I should’ve checked the bag before leaving the restaurant, it was slow so I didn’t think they could mess up the order, upon arriving at home I realized part of order was missing, I then called the phone# on the receipt only to be told it’s not in service!! I then googled the # for this Port Moody location and called at least 7-8 times, it rang over and over until a recording came on to say ‘this person cannot be reached right now, hang up and try your call again” after the 7-8th try to only be told the mailbox was full!!!! I had heard bad reviews from friends and coworkers about this place, but decided to give this place a chance anyway..needless to say We will definitely NOT be back!! Do Not Recommend! besides Popeyes & even KFC are a much better option by far..price wise and quality wise!!!...
