Don’t be beguiled by the intriguing exterior, that is regretfully as good as this place gets. Showed up as group of four on Friday at two pm. There were customers there, but it didn’t seem overly busy and certainly not a reason it took well over twenty minutes for our order to be taken. An apology was offered for the delay, but over twenty minutes to take an order is just too long. It was also a bit odd that our drink order was taken by a child that was no more than 9, but I won’t weigh that in any way. Peculiar that is all.
The interior decor is boring, aside from the Sidney Crosby sweater on the wall.
After ordering, an equally long wait results in food arriving at the table over 45 minutes after being seated. All could be forgiven if the food was at great or at least good. Unfortunately it was not. The cheeseburger arrived without cheese. This was doubly unfortunate as it may have added some flavour to an overcooked patty. The accompanying onion rings were quite good but didn’t make up for the cardboard-like texture of the burger. For $18.50 you’d expect something decent, but A&W would have been better. A fellow dinner’s medium boiled eggs were cooked far too long. Another’s Caesar salad didn’t taste like Caesar salad.
To be fair, after pointing out the lack of cheese, there was laterally a passing inquiry if “anything could be done”. A concrete offer on their part would have been preferred. I’m not in the habit of telling people how to remedy their failings. But to have one of the $4 cans of pop, or some such thing, taken off the bill would have been an option that could have provided some satisfaction.
To add insult to injury the cost of the cheeseburger (rather than the regular burger I got) was on the bill, and after pointing that out, the corrected bill still had the price of what I ordered, but didn’t get.
In the end, the very slow service was subpar, the price a bit elevated but the most important part of a restaurant is decent food. I wish this place could deliver on the food but it doesn’t. I am 100 per cent behind small independent businesses and I wish this one well. I hope they improve and take this, if it is read, as...

Billy’s Family Restaurant. Champion of Breakfasts. Eraser of Memories.
I am just going to come out and say it. I barely remember coming here and I feel awful for that. Most of the time I can jog my memory by looking at photos, menus, comments on my photos on Facebook, asking the people I was with for information, etc… but here, I just simply don’t recall a single thing.
I know we came here after visiting the Princeton Museum and also the Bridge of Dreams, but after that, my memory is blank. I could take a guess and say that since it is a diner, I probably got a bacon burger or some french toast, but I don’t want to tell lies to fill out a blog post.
With all that in mind… or the lack of ‘in mind’… you are probably wondering why write a blog for a place with no real or substantial information provided. I have an answer for that. I write this blog as a personal thing to help document and record my travels as I see what this crazy world has to offer. Another side benefit from doing that is to help drum up interest in others. To encourage those people who stumble upon these posts to get out and try something new. Try something different. You can get national chains anywhere and at any time. When you are visiting family/friends in another town, state or country… get out and try the local places out. You’d be surprised at all the hidden gems that...
Read moreSorry to say this was not a good experience. There was only maybe 5 people counting us in the place. Our waitress didn't have any answers for our questions. It took 15 mins for her to return to take our order and another 20 mins for it to come to the table. Which had it been busy...no problem but like I said there were only 5 people in the place. And all the rest had their food already. We both ordered eggs bacon and hash browns crunchy. The bacon came completely burnt. The toast wasn't toasted and the hash brown were definately now crunchy. When I ask another worker to come to the table to show her the burnt bacon , she said would you like me to get you more. I just thought well if I am paying 10.75 I guess I want my bacon. In the end the replacement bacon came cooked nicely although I have to say it was deep fried and left drowning in the grease because they didn't drain it properly. Very sad after being told it had great...
