Had breakfast there about a week ago. Lunch today. Service was slow both times, but this time it was more than half empty. There were lots of staff in restaurant. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen. It took a while to get our food. No one checked on us after our food arrived, but we did get another glass of water with the food. And some when we were all done, along with an offer of dessert.
The food was "meh". The greek salad was fresh. GIANT tomato chunks. I had ordered dressing on the side. I THINK the dressing went on the salad, but it was so bland that I couldn't tell. There were supposed to be "spices" in olive oil. I could only detect olive oil. I took the salad home so I could have it with actual dressing. I have good taste buds. This was way beyond a subtle dressing. It was almost undetectable.
The pizzas -- just weird! The crust is sort of like a tasteless kind of biscuit. The pizza sauce was (like the salad dressing) almost undetectable. I thought there was a decent amount of topping but my husband and grandson found it lacking. My grandson usually eats 4 slices of pizza. Today, he ate 2 and didn't want any to take home.
Grandson says he liked it better there when it was in it's Bailey's incarnation. He was a frequent flyer.
My husband really enjoyed his coffee both times. Great water too. (not being facetious) My grandson loves their iced tea. Still have a lovely outdoor area.
Today will be our...
Read moreOMG Where have I been and how have we missed this place? We just discovered Bailey's in QB and what a treat. This is not your Mother's cafe, it is not your Grandmother's cafe, this is your Great-Grandmother's cafe where momma made everything from scratch. We ordered and were dangerously given the coffee and HOMEMADE carrot cake with real whipped cream cheese to take with us to the table. The cake did not last, it said "eat me", so we did. Each dessert first is now our 2024 resolution. Soup?? Homemade from scratch! Biscuit with soup? Homemade! Club sandwich? Bread for sandwich? You got it...Homemade. I think the Turkey was also baked in house as it did not taste like deli meat. So good, so homemade, so appreciate the efforts of the owner and staff for all their time and effort in making a huge effort in providing real cooking. Can't say enough of how we appreciate everything being made fresh and in house. You could truly taste the difference. I believe Bailey's could actually be classified as a Foreign food restaurant as home made food is such a "foreign" commodity these days. Well done Bailey's, shout out to all the staff. We...
Read moreI like this place! Portions are generous, baked items are made in-house, sandwich bread and bagels are amazing and service is premium and if you see a long line up you can count on it moving quickly. The espresso is tasty too. I also appreciate that Bailey's is often the only coffee shop open at certain times or on certain dates/holidays -- thank you to the staff for being available for us residents. I knocked off two stars because I was surprised to see the cheese is processed on all the breakfast sandwiches and burgers (Kraft singles style) and the burger patty was also come kind of pre-made highly processed, gelatinous frozen patty like a Costco or even lower grade. I would be willing to pay more for ingredients that are restaurant quality but I'm guessing the residents prefer the lower prices. Nonetheless, I'm a regular patron and can see why...
