I stopped by the bakery for the third time since the new owners have taken over and had a nice lunch with a friend today. My first visit i grabbed a chicken samosa which ended up being quite tasty. The pastry was tender and flaky and the filling was nicely spiced although not abundant. Next visit I was craving an apple fritter and this bakery used to make the best. Everything in the case looked delicious but I eventually decided on the fritter and a jelly donut. The jelly donut was delicious, nice and fresh. The apple fritter on the other hand tasted of Indian spices similar to the masala used in the samosas. Not terrible but not my favourite either. Today’s lunch consisted of a tasty mushroom rosemary soup that was really delicious. It was a little devoid of mushrooms but the broth was peppery in a good way on a cold day and they used fresh rosemary. My buddy loved the soup as well. It was served with a slice of buttered lightly toasted fresh bread that was delicious especially dipped in the soup. I could have eaten a whole loaf. I ordered a steak and mushroom pie and my friend got the last piece of deep dish apple pie. His pie arrived hot and my steak and mushroom pie arrived cold and in the form of a chicken pie lol😛 I didn’t bother to complain as I like chicken pie. The apple pie was excellent with tons of fresh apples, really nice. I enjoyed the pastry of my chicken pie, even cold but very little filling and chicken. We both had coffee and it was hot and delicious. I have mixed feelings about the bakery but I will try it another time as things are pretty good. I do think it is expensive for the portion size though, so don’t...
Read moreOver priced low effort sandwiches. Me and all my friends got a sandwich each, all of them sucked, not toasted, all the fixings were right in the middle of the sandwich, mine had cranberry sauce on the outside of the bread and my sandwich didn’t even have cranberry’s on it but my friends did. Not food safe, it took like 15 minutes to make 4 un-toasted sandwiches. Bland sandwiches and unfriendly cold staff. The staff are not locals and probably right off the boat from over seas. The type of people working at subway if you know what I mean. They hate you.
Don’t ever go here, there’s plenty of other nice bakery’s to support instead.
They had also packed up all the chairs and tables 20 minutes before closing so my pregnant friend couldn’t sit down, the four of us had to eat in the car outside while it was...
Read morePopped into this quaint little cafe for a bite to eat for breakfast and from the moment we walked in, I knew we had chosen the right place. There were SO many cakes and biscuits and they all looked delicious, I was just overwhelmed by it all. I ordered the mango and lychee fizz drink and it was so good, I savoured it all the way to Tofino. We also got the crossaint, corniche pasty, pistachio crossaint, and scone among us and we were all very satisfied. We also loved the little cookie samples on the counter! The only unfortunate thing is that it opens quite late at 9am so we won't have time to go there before our ferry tomorrow. Well I don't know if that's a negative because it just goes to show how much...
