Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar — Restaurant in Quebec

Our food was delicious and our overall experience was ok. Our server was pleasant enough, but he was too busy with other tables and we were definitely not a priority. He took our order fairly promptly, and our food came out within a reasonable wait time, and served by the manager...but our food came out before the coffee I ordered. No big..he did apologize and brought my coffee fairly quickly. We ate our entire meal though and we weren't asked how the food was or if I needed a top up etc. We observed him checking on other tables, and he was busy with a couple larger tables, but other than him grabbing my husband's empty plate, we only saw him...no interaction at all. I was finished my food shortly after and put my plate to the end of the table. A hostess came by and cleared a table, walked right past the plate, with no acknowledgement or indication she was coming back. Again, no big, we just wanted to pay and get going. Then after waiting 10 minutes, and no one walked by, including our server, I thought I'd try a hint by getting my card out to pay. I made it obvious but not so much so as to be rude. Waited another 10 minutes, with my plate still sitting on the table, and no sign of the server, when we finally saw the manager. I asked her for our bill and said that while our server was pleasant enough, even though he barely served us, and we waited a long time to try and pay. The manager did get our bill, but no apology, just an indifferent look and gave off an attitude of me wasting her time. He then came up, she couldn't pass off the debit machine fast enough to him, and she walked away.

Long story short, I run several restaurants and tried to be patient, but as good as the food was, if we did live in the area, we would not be back. I do feel bad, in my irritated state, I didn't tip the server, but we barely saw him, and honestly he made no honest attempt to make amends either. Had he apologized, I'd have tipped him properly.

And maybe the manager was having a bad day but if one of my management team treated a customer the way she did, she would be...

We recently planned a girls’ night out at Bâton Rouge Galeries de la Capitale, expecting a delightful dining experience. Unfortunately, our evening was marred by a series of disappointments.

Upon arrival, despite our reservations, we experienced a significant delay in receiving our drinks. After placing our food orders, our party—comprising two mothers and three children—waited until nearly 8:45 PM for our meals. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period.

We voiced our concerns to the waiter and sent the dishes back. To our dismay, the same plates were returned almost immediately, seemingly reheated in a microwave. My steak, which I had cut before it was taken away was overcooked; my daughter’s burger, previously bitten, returned shriveled yet steaming; and the chicken nuggets had congealed into an inedible mass. This food was not at restaurant standard and should have never left the kitchen.

The manager apologized and offered each of us $40 vouchers for our local Bâton Rouge locations. However, considering the subpar experience and the fact that $40 barely covers a meal, this gesture felt inadequate.

This experience was profoundly disappointing, and we hope the establishment addresses these issues to prevent future occurrences. We left hungry and sourced a local pizza shop to take back to the hotel. I come from the restaurant industry and this was by far the worst experience I have...

Been a while since I have been back to Baton Rouge in Quebec City! The place is cozy and has a little of the old world feeling with mahogany wood pretty much everywhere. Had to have the smoky old fashion which was a little disappointing and most certainly would not recommend it to anyone. Did not look or taste like an old fashion should including the wrong ice cube! Not ever put ice cubes in an old fashion all we need is one extra large ice cube preferably round.

Not a very busy night in the restaurent area and my waiter Normand seem to be doing double duty working in the bar area as well as the dinning room!

Now as far as the food I ordered the usual ribs with baked potato!

The issue is I always order a baked potato with butter on the side so I can control how much butter is added and again the potato is delivered already with a huge helping of butter! Why is it so hard to put something on the side?

As far as the ribs excellant in all aspects! Size of the portion, taste and overall appeal!

Only getting a 4 star from me as you still need to improve in certain areas especially on the listening and execution part of...
