We were on vacation and celebrating our 23rd anniversary with dinner at La Cohue. Although the location is not attractive, this bistro is a treasure to discover. The atmosphere is very classy and comfortable. Our waiter was very attentive and explained the answers to our questions about the food very thoroughly. Everything we tasted was delicious! The flavors were very well balanced. We had the arancini appetizer, which is 3 different bites (lobster, foie grass, and mozzarella) that came with complementing sauces. Then, I had the rack of lamb. They were all generous portions with perfectly balanced sauces. My husband had the prawns and scallops. It was the largest prawn we had ever seen - the size of a small lobster tail. Cooked perfectly, and we had to resist licking our plates. For dessert, we couldn't decide, so we split the creme brulee, chocolate mousse and the maple cheese Pancake. I could not decide which was my favorite. My husband loved the Pancake. This place was a great choice for our...
Read moreMy wife and I were on a road trip through the Northeastern United States and Canada. Wanting to visit and get acquainted with the Quebec province and especially Quebec City, we decided to spend a few days there. My wife has always researched and choreographed our vacations to the smallest detail. Anyway, she arranged a dinner at Bistro La Cohue on a Friday evening. After noticing the restaurant was located 7 miles from the old Quebec City, in a strip mall, I was a bit reluctant to spend my evening in that location. I did read the excellent reviews and decided to venture out. The food, presentation and service were second to none. Our waitress, Carole could not have been more attentive and the desert bought a tear to my eyes. Had I skipped my reservation, I would have lost out on one of the best restaurants in the Quebec City area. Drive there, escape the tourist area, ignore the Strip mall, and enjoy the amazing hospitality of a true local Quebec...
Read moreOne of the best food experiences in Quebec City! We’re visiting from LA and went to a lot of restaurants this past week. La Cohue was definitely the best brunch we had. Rafael, our server, was very nice and attentive. He translated the entire menu for us and even explained how certain items in the food are made. We went there with our 3 year old daughter and he did everything to make us feel at ease about her. He put extra water and straws for her as she kept switching her seat! We started off with complimentary parfait and a shot of juice. We got the waffle plate for my daughter and it was the first time she actually ate her food! Food presentation, hospitality, cleanliness, ambience, and fast service were all five starts! We had the scallops and pork belly and the Boudin Noir, both were so flavorful and perfectly balanced! Parking is available unlike the old Quebec where you have to struggle to find one! Highly...
