I visited years ago and had an amazing experience — perhaps one of the best in a sushi restaurant, it was chic and over my expectations. However, I recently visited again and I had a totally different experience. First the waiter was definitely not interested in serving us that evening. He even went as far as suggesting we don’t take sushis since according to him, it would be too long — I mean hello, we’re in a sushi restaurant... More over, we didn’t even receive the sushis we ordered anyways despite the waiter’s recommendation to don’t order sushis. All the sushis tasted bland and the same and didn’t really have an edge to it. Oh and can we talk about the food court chopsticks? Cheap wooden chopsticks that you tear apart don’t really match that 100$ bill for a...
Read moreI was visiting Quebec City for a few days, and wanted to get sushi for dinner. I looked up availability for the evening, and there were tables available for 8:30, 8:45, and 9:00 pm (restaurant closes at 10). I ended up not booking, assuming there is probably space. We walked all the way from our hotel there, and when we got there at exactly 8:46, the hostess refused to let us dine, saying that they won’t wait a whole hour to dine us if there are not that many people in (there were still 2 tables with several people eating there). Very disappointing and poor customer service. Since when is it okay to turn down customers an hour and 15 minutes prior to...
Read moreMaybe this is routine in Quebec City sushi places (hope not), but sushi rice was so packed together with vinegar (under fish) that soy sauce was not absorbed at all. More concerning, was it seemed sushi rice was hot which made the sushi fish warm -- disconcerting! Waiter mentioned that no staff was actually Japanese (maybe a cause for the problems). Ordered Ebi tempura but only got vegetables until kitchen realized foul-up (waiter refused to take responsibility but did arrange for Ebi Shrimp to come out in the end). FWIW, waiter did say that kitchen staff was Vietnamese and Chinese -- so maybe a problem with the very understanding of...
