Tucked into the heart of the Saint Saveur neighborhood this gem boasts flavorful cocktails, fresh ceviche and stunning steak! Restaurant Lima, is a cozy bar and restaurant perfect for families, friends and couples. My wife, my teenaged daughter and I dined here and it felt like home. Our server Dorthee was fluent in English and French, so friendly and as energetic. We watched as she worked the room, mixed cocktails and took orders, she set the tone for the evening. We had octopus with purple mayo and beef empanada to start, my wife had one of their signature cocktails and none of them disappointed. The flavors were bright, tropical and savory. The octopus appetizer was fresh, light and flavorful, the olive oil mayo kept the taste light and it was brightened by a spritz of citrus. The empanada was crisp and airy and served hot out of the oven. For the main course we had the sea food risotto and our daughter had the steak strips and fries. The risotto featured all kinds of fresh seafood as described in the menu, topped with ceviche white fish and it was everything we hoped for and more, the flavors were fresh and lively! The steak and fries (a Peruvian specialty) was so savory and they chargrilled the tomatoes to perfection, it all melted in your mouth. The vibe was as vibrant as this up and coming neighborhood, as mentioned above it seemed like a local gathering place for couples, friends and families. All in all Restaurant bar Lima, is your cozy kick back in the heart of Saint Saveur, staff is friendly and energetic and the food is outstanding! We will definitely...
Read moreThis is not your typical restaurant in QC for a tourist to go to but we love Peruvian food so we chose the "off the beaten path" restaurant. For a Sunday night, there were only 3 tables taken in the whole restaurant - which didn't quite give it the best vibe.
Drink-wise - as usual, the Pisco Sours are our go to. Very flavorful - just wish they were colder and not luke-warm.
For food - we got the Choritos a la Chalaca to start. Beautiful presentation and delicious stuffed mussels. Presented on 4 spoons. We then got the Ceviche al racoto and Chaufa de mariscos. The ceviche was very much like our appetizer (didn't realize it when we ordered it) but in a much larger portion. The Chaufa was seafood based and very good.
BUT - it was way too much food for two people. We asked if it would be too much and he said no. It was way too much. In the States, the Ceviches are usually much smaller and we thought we were getting 2 smaller dishes and the Chaufa. Not at all.
I would recommend the restaurant - but would recommend ordering less food...
Read moreVery underwhelming experience from a place that has so many good reviews! We were excited to find a Peruvian restaurant in Quebec City and after looking at the photos of the food and reviews decided to go. As we arrived, we were surprised to see how small the place was! There were many tables open since we went on a Monday night. Our options for a 2 person table were literally right next to the door or the bathroom. We chose the one closest to the bathroom to avoid the cold breeze but had to put up with the smell of febreze. We ordered a seafood platter for two and waited almost 40 minutes for it to arrive. The shrimp causas were extremely simple and not tasty, the ceviche was good, the fried fish was good but there was no sauce to eat it with besides a small thing of huancaina sauce, and the seafood rice was ok. It also took an eternity for the server to refill water and there was no communication for the reason as to why the food took so long to come out. It was not a busy night! We left disappointed and surprisingly still a...
